Nestle Carnation Original Malted Milk (13 oz.)

A bit pricey these days. Actually hadn’t used in a long time but cooking shows reminded me how much I enjoy the flavor. I only use in soda fountain shakes but intend to try a cake or cookies.

Sadly malted milkshakes are almost a thing of the past. I rarely order milkshakes but when I get a craving I want a caramel malted one. I've been playing around with making my own low carb ice cream and fully intend to use the Malt in my next batch.

Personally never had the pleasure of a malt milkshake, but according to my Father this Malt mix is close enough to the olden that he enjoyed it!

childhood favorite makes a great vanilla malt with ice cream. just add 1-2 cups ice cream, 3 cups malt, and 4 oz milk, then stir with spoon or fork.

From the questions above, it seems many people don't know what this is. Back in the 50's and 60's there were 'soda shops' and soda fountains in stores like Walgreens, etc. I guess today we have ice cream shops (or parlors). Anyway a favorite drink was a Malted Milk Shake. This product when added to vanilla ice cream, milk and Hersey's Chocolate Syrup in the right ratio and blended creates a Malted Mike Shake. It works best to have the highest grade HARD ice cream since much of today's ice cream is full of air and water. You can vary the flavor of the ice cream and syrup to get other combinations but purists would only want chocolate.

Good malt powder is hard to find, but this never fails! It really is the best.

My husband gets depressed as more business stop selling malted shakes. This was yummy to add to our at home malts. Makes your shakes sweeter and adds an extra flavor!
