THE DARK SIDE OF A LONELY STRETCH OF PACIFIC OCEAN AND A ISOLATED DINER PLUS GARY COOPER
Kino Lorber is obviously having a great deal of success with his 3 package film noir series THE DARK SIDE OF CINEMA. This is Volume 21, and as usual, the prints are in great shape. I know SHACK OUT ON 101 has been released on physical media before, but if you haven't seen it, Lee Marvin gets a chance to flex his muscles and showcase a performance that gives a lot of energy to the scenes between him and Keenan Wynn. And opening sequence with Terry Moore with Marvin is truly startling. I have no idea how that got through the censors since this is no hinting at sexual assault as was often done in films at the time. And Gary Cooper prowls through a foggy espionage landscape in Fritz Lang's CLOAK AND DAGGER.Jimmy Cagney directs SHORT CUT TO HELL.
