Do you slip if you walk on a hard surface flooring?

I don't slip at all one a sidewalk, you can slip a bit on smooth finished concrete like inside a garage, I don't wear them in the house at all, on and off in the mud room.

Are these good for Hiking in the mountains?

That would depend on the terrain. These are meant for icy and snowy conditions on relatively flat surfaces. They are not rigid and don't have any front points. They are only good for moderate angle slopes. 10 or 15 degrees tops

Just curious if you could wear these without the strap, or would that make them too lose?

I think it would make them too loose. The strap does help hold them snug. I have warn them with hiking shoes, the strap does still fit over the tongue of the shoe nicely.
