More robust than the best known competitor models
The good. Solid construction and very flexible options for gripping the work in hand. Assembly is straightforward although, like most modern instructions, requires imagination in interpretation! Tip. Look at the washers on the pictures to help identify which bolts to use - the longer bolts use 2 washers, the shorter only 1. Takes about an hour to assemble and there are times when assistance to hold components in alignment would help. The not so good. The ready assembled quick release mechanism for the rear top panel on my model was jammed on one side once assembly was completed. The toothed runners along which the panel slides were different left and right; that on the left was narrower and didn’t lie flat on the panel resulting in the locking teeth being longer than the releasing plate. I couldn’t tell if the difference was a deliberate design feature which could be fixed by adjustment but my efforts to do so didn’t work. Also, the box in which the table was delivered was very badly damaged and held together with about £20 worth of strong adhesive tape, except over the big puncture hole in the side. Some small components were loose in the box which makes me wonder if the whole unit had been returned as unsatisfactory, repackaged and sent to me - at a much discounted price. When I ordered it I was informed that the item was out of stock; it still is - which reinforces my suspicions. I have returned the bench to Amazon. That said, I am impressed by the quality and flexibility of the Ryobi bench and I hope my faith in Ryobi quality is well founded. If not I will return the replacement and do without.Update.The replacement bench has arrived, and it works perfectly. Solid working base, easy and a pleasure to use. Review upgraded to 5 stars.

Ryobi work bench
Well built just a bit disappointed in the one side of work surface will not lock in automatically when adjusting the width

Superior, well built heavy portable bench which is more versatile that older light weight bench.
Delivery arrived on time but alarmingly the box had two large holes it. Looks like the packaging could be improved somewhat as the weight of the bench more Han likely caused the holes during transit. Fortunately on checking the contents, everything was there and undamaged. Instructions for assembly could be a little clearer in particular, which bolts go where. However if you take your time, assembly is relatively easy and the bench is everything I could have asked for.

BROKEN ON DELIVERY
Not very happy. On receiving the package I noticed that it had been opened before and the box tape was not correct. On emptying the contents I noticed 2 broken handles and some bolts fell out of the box.The TOP section of the workbench had HANDLES missing - No not missing - But these were the handles that someone had put into a open ended cardboard box. I have arranged for a replacement and the old to be collected - but I am now not too sure if the handles on the bench jaws is man enough for the job. Time will tell. If they break easy I will pass a comment on this network so that no-one makes a mistake again

Customer Service...
There doesn't seem anyway of communicating to Amazon other than "going for a return" or leaving a 1 star review. An adjustment knob is too tight and won't allow the adjustment knob to be used. It's 1/2 inch but I can't get a socket in to loosen it to facilitate angle repositioning. THAT'S ALL I NEED TO DO !! Why isn't there a facility for just being able to ask the seller a question when Amazon acts as the "middleman" ?There were also four washers short for the middle "peddle" assembly.

Great workbench. Well made
Great workbench. Well made, easy to adjust for the various DIY jobs. Storing is a bit of a pain as it's not as compact as a conventional bench but then it is much more multi-purpose. The height and angle adjustments are great.

faulty item received but also weak construction for the price.
Item received in damaged outer box but product packaging was fine. Assembly was painful (literally jammed my fingers a few times) but not too hard. Nuts supplied are not self locking so I would recommend replacing with nylocs. The platform is raised by releasing friction screws on either side and raising by hand at the same time as standing on the step at the bottom, and also pushing the release level with your other foot.. great design. The platform does not stay level, so care must be taken to ensure it does not rest unevenly as once it is locked it does require destructive force to pull one side up or down while holding the release lever with your foot and taking the weight of the platform and what is on it in your arms. The back platform clamp is adjustable by pressing levers on the outer side of each side of the aluminium beam. This can move unevenly too as the rails are thin pressed/folded steel, and give easily. On the one I received, the right rail was already damaged before I assembled the top part. This meant the rear platform did not lock in place. I would also say the locks would give way fairly easily under pressure, so one shouldn't over-tighten any load in the clamp.I would not buy anything that resembles this workbench again after this experience.
