packaging was sort of roughed up, but rating is not based on the condition of the packaging!
Firstly, I understand that the packaging of wrestling action figures (and probably action figures in general) is very important to a lot of people, but reviews that focus on the poor condition of a product's packaging on arrival and have low ratings influenced by this are not real "product reviews," or not very fair ones, anyway. (You can find a LOT of "reviews" like that for wrestling action figures, and probably other ones as well.) Most likely the packaging gets damaged by the seller and/or in transit; it isn't made that way by the manufacturer. Because the packaging of a particular figure that one particular person receives may be in poor condition, it doesn't mean that this will be the case for everyone else who buys that figure! It could just mean that maybe the seller should have put more protection in the box (or whatever) that it was shipped in, or that they weren't careful enough with it on the shelf or wherever else they had it stored (or of course it might mean both). This is carelessness on the part of the seller, and "product reviews" are supposed to be about the products themselves, not people's experiences with sellers. Complaints about those should go under "seller feedback." (Of course, uncareful postal workers could possibly be at fault, too, so it may not necessarily be the sellers' fault, at least not entirely.) I realize this is kind of a long paragraph to devote to that stuff here (sorry), but I just had to get all that off my chest after reading so many "it arrived damaged" reviews.I recently bought this figure, and while the packaging was sort of roughed up, the figure itself is what really matters to me. Unlike a lot of other people, I don't buy wrestling figures to keep in the packaging, either to display that way or to wait and see if they someday turn out to be worth a lot of money. To me there's no fun in that! I just buy the figures because I LIKE them and I want to HAVE them for myself! It's really just the figures themselves that I'm after! When I saw a figure of "Rocker" Shawn Michaels, I was surprised! I have/had seen a lot of figures of "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, but his Rocker form was never anywhere to be found (at least by me) until this figure happened to come up at Amazon (when I wasn't even specifically looking for any Shawn Michaels figures)!I think this is a cool figure. To me it seems to be well-made and in perfect condition. It also seems to me to be a pretty accurate likeness; I don't know if other people would agree. Of course, the Rocker Shawn was a much younger Shawn, so it wouldn't have done to make him look like his "older" self!I must also say that while the packaging of my figure was somewhat damaged, I really like how it's designed like an old arcade game machine! I don't really know WHY it is (I get that there's a "retro" theme here, but I don't get why the makers related wrestlers and wrestling action figures with arcade games), but I do think it's cool, especially since I was growing up back in the '80s (almost the entire decade) when video games were themselves a much "younger" thing! It contributes to the "nostalgic" value of the purchase, at least for me! (Ah, the good old days, LOL!) This packaging is NOT going into the garbage OR getting recycled, even if it isn't in perfect shape! The only complaint I have --- well, it isn't really much a complaint because it doesn't really bother me --- concerning the actual manufacturing is that the figure seems maybe a bit too "slim," at least to me.For me this was a great find --- worthy of one of my relatively rare 5-star ratings!
