This works great if you have a guitar or any other wood instrument that needs to be kept at a constant relative humidity (RH)%). This allows me to open my guitar case and at a glance see if the RH is conducive with keeping my guitar in good shape and to avoid possible issues down the road in regards to cracks and glued joints coming undone. It also allows you to check the history to see if during travel it may have been stored in less than ideal conditions. A relatively inexpensive tool that can save you hundred if not thousands of dollars down the line.

I checked the accuracy of this hygrometer using the Boveda calibration kit, and both of the hygrometers I purchased measured within 1 degree of the test kit. Other hygrometers I've used in my guitar cases were off by 5%. I have one of these in each of my guitar cases along with daddario humidipaks...a must have to protect the guitars from humidity changes.

Good device, small and accurate. Ideal for monitoring humidity in an instrument case. The battery it came with did not last long and I ended up buying more from amazon basics that last longer.Very reliable hygrometer - just do yourself a favor and buy a few CR2032 batteries with it to save yourself frustration down the line.

I hang my ukuleles on the wall and I was concerned that I was allowing them to be damaged by being in an environment that is too dry. I keep this Hygrometer by the ukuleles and know that they are safe in my home environment without keeping them in cases with individual humidifiers. If my humidity dips, I will see it. Now I know that my little musical investments are safe.

I bought two of these several months ago, from Amazon. One works. The other has faulty battery contacts ... once I attempted to fix that, the display showed nothing but numeral 8s all across. Efforts to clear or reset prove fruitless. Both of the devices wore out their batteries in about six months. These are, or should be, very low-current devices, since they have a small LCD display and no illumination or alarm feature, and those lithium batteries are very long lived, normally. This device is utter crap. I won't buy another. Hugely overpriced as well. With a chip like that, cost to manufacture probably is less than half a dollar. Even if yours keeps working, you can't reset or adjust it without the instructions in hand, because the user interface was designed by sadists. Google the product name and you can find the manual online.

Do the weather concerns I never received the item and was issued a prompt refund I went to Guitar Center and got what I wanted but thank you to the seller anyway!

I got this for my Taylor 214E DLX, because it's an investment and I want to protect it. The hygrometer does what I need it to do, easy to set up and to read, and the price is good. I'll be buying a second one for my workhorse guitar, an Ibanez Artwood mahogany dread.
