Good battery with long expiration dates
I was reluctant to buy batteries online, because I like to check the expiration date. But they were a good price, and I go through so many AAA batteries, I thought to myself "why not." The expiration date was 5 years in the future, so no complaints there. The batteries seem well made, but it's hard to say if their any better or worse than others, because they mostly go in remote controls and other small things. But they seem to do really well.

Still working
The media could not be loaded. I bought these to go in a Walkie Talkie set I bought for a gift and I put them in the set to give to her with batteries already in them. I tested them before I gave them to her by turning on the walkie talkie. I asked her this week if they were still working and she said they were. She uses the Walkie Talkies a lot so these batteries were a good choice. When they get low I'll buy this brand again. I'm really pleased with how long they've been lasting.

Best for longevity
The Maxell AAA batteries are the best for my remote control. They last longer than any others I have tried.

A comparison between 7 brands: Results
I've been systematically testing the best-selling aaa batteries on Amazon. So far, I've tested AmazonBasics, two types of Duracell, ACDelco, Rayovac, Energizer, and now Maxell. Maxell aaa's hang with the best in terms of capcity -- they're right up there with top-performing ACDelco and AmazonBasics (which one is actually best depends on discharge rate -- see the graph and table attached in the images), and they're the new runner-up in terms of value, besting AmazonBasics to be in second place to ACDelco. In the images I have attached two graphs and a table summarizing my test results for the 6 types I've tested. The graphs show value and absolute capacity, respectively, and the table contains my rwa data. If you'd like to know more about how I test ... on to the in-dept test & review. My standard test procedure is to take 3 fresh batteries sourced from Amazon, all starting at approx. 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and discharge them in my Opus BT-C2000 battery analyzer at rates of 100 ma, 200 ma, and 400 ma (discharge rate affects usable capacity). I executed this procedure for these batteries, and the capacity at each discharge rate was:Disch Rt | Capacity | Runtime | Sample use case100 mA | 979 mAh | 9.2 hrs | Low-power LED flashlight200 mA | 811 mAh | 3.9 hrs | Electronic toy / medium LED flashlight400 mA | 696 mAh | 1.6 hrs | Motorized toy / bright LED flashlightThese batteries are the new top-performer in the high-drain test ('motorized toy / bright LED flashlight'), although the difference between these and ACDelco is probably within the margin of error. The also nearly matched the top performers in the low-drain test ('low-power LED flashlight'), and were just a bit below the best in the mid-drain ('electronic toy') test.In terms of value, these the second best I've tested so far. Of the top-three value batteries (ACDelco, AmazonBasics, and these), I probably trust the AmazonBasics brand the most, and Maxell next, but if you want the absolute most power for your money, ACDelco is still at the top of the stack. If you'd like to compare these Maxell batteries to the others that I've tested, I've linked the other products at the end of this review and also attached a summary graph and table in the images. To see my full reviews of the other products, go to the product review page and searching 'mah' under 'all reviews' (unfortunately Amazon doesn't allow direct linking to other reviews).I have also tested the following batteries:ACDelco AAA Super Alkaline Batteries, 48-CountAmazonBasics AAA Performance Alkaline BatteriesDuracell Procell AAA Batteries PC2400BKD09Duracell AAA Batteries Coppertop MN2400Energizer MAX AAA BatteriesRayovac Alkaline AAA Batteries

40% were DEAD.
I ordered two packs of 10 Maxell AAA batteries each, sold by NYC Electronics and fulfilled by Amazon. The batteries arrived OK inside unopened plastic/carded packages as shown. All of the batteries had the same date stamp of 05-2013. However, several of the batteries were completely dead, as demonstrated by my calculator and a simple battery tester that has proven reliable in the past.Specifically, 3 out of the first 10 were dead, and 5 out of the second 10 were dead. The remaining batteries all appear to have a full charge, so I got 8 bad and 12 good batteries out of 20. Not what you expect! I've NEVER bought new batteries and found dead ones before.Thankfully, Amazon made it easy to return them for a full refund.
