The truth
This product should have a higher rating. The people who rated it low either don't understand how it works, or had an unfortunate shipping/ handling experience. I don't see how this product could have been packaged or shipped any better from my experience- very solid and lots of cushioning/foam for protection. I plugged it in, set the magnet in place, and it worked immediately out of the box.You MUST use a protection layer of a sort between the magnet and the base when unplugging it (or grab the magnet with your hand when unplugging it), because the magnet will slam down onto the base and possibly damage some of the components. (This should be common sense). As you can see in my photo, I used a plastic storage box I already had.Also, make sure you're holding the magnet disc FIRMLY and with two hands while finding the equilibrium point. It's a very small spot and it's easy to drop the magnet as it already wants to fly towards the base ring magnet!I'm purchasing three more for a project I'm working on, and I'm so glad these exist! 5/5 Don't let the negative reviews steer you.

THIS SUCKED...!
I was super excited to try and build a new Boy Scout display with my son, so pinewood derby cars could be displayed and at the same time, use this to cover some science requirements.This unit came in, super tightly packaged, but when I tested it to make sure it works, the spinning function did not work properly and one of the copper coils got super freaking hot.... i could not use this product as I feared it would catch on fire... seems like there is a short somewhere.....In technical terms.... "This product vacuums eternal butt..." give it 48 thumbs down...

Really works well, however when the power goes out there is the loudest noise I've ever heard when the magnet slams back down. It is really cool though.

Worked as described
Item very well packaged. Operated as described. Held a small weight with no problem. Spins in either direction. Have to be a bit careful with it, using some packaging material between the magnets a good idea to start with.

Don’t order…
I was shipped a broken potentially used unit. To get a refund I need to ship it back to an address in China and pay for the shipping. No point in trying to get a refund, it’s going to cost at least half the refund amount to ship it
