Works well with a Mac and no drivers
Used this to talk to some Palo Alto network devices. To use this on an Apple Silicon Mac laptop, no software or drivers needed:1. Plug USB-C end into Mac2. Open Terminal, search for cable with % ls -l /dev/cu.*3. In the output should be a line with something like /dev/cu.usbserial-AI04UHCT That is this serial cable.4. Use screen command including a baud rate: % screen /dev/cu.usbserial-AI04UHCT 9600Other rates to try: 19200, 38400, 57600, 1152005. Plug the RJ45 into the network device [this step could also be moved after step 1, but I've had more success doing it last]

Great for use with an Android phone
Cable works fine from Linux (ttyUSB0) clients, as well as Android phones with a USB-C connection. Have had it for over a year and have only used it on Juniper switches, I think. No issues when using a PC as a client, and none on Android that were cable-related, I think.To use on Android, I fetched the Serial USB Terminal app by Kai Morich. Output might become garbage sometimes but reseating the cable seems to usually resolve it.

does its job very well
World has moved on from well known and cozy RS-232 on your laptop to having just 4 usb-c ports and a bundle of dongles you carry around and make complex constructions with.This particular cable I keep one in each machine room we have and it just ... works. No drivers needed, good enough length to leave laptop standing on the floor on its side while connected to RU42 switch

great! website driver page is dead, windows auto drivers work
works great! docking 1 star because the websites driver page exists but is non-functional. thankfully windows auto-update worked and found the correct drivers, but i don't like relying on that. manufacturers are responsible for keeping their webpages in a functional state.

Works as Expected
Product works as expected. For the life of me though I can't figure out why the chip enclosure has to be so large on the cable. Otherwise it works for the intended purpose of consoling into devices.

This is a must for IT professionals that have hands on with network gear.Good quality, and works seamlessly with my Mac.

Perfect for New Network Gear!
Since everything seems to be going towards USB-C, I needed to get a new console cable for networking gear. This took care of the problem in short order! Good quality, and a decent length of cable.

Does NOT work on a new Macbook Pro
Some of the single most awful install instructions (for the Mac) I can imagine, and after following the instructions to the letter, it does NOT WORK!!!Look, Cable Matters is not a bad company. But the FDTI chipset is, in my view, a whopping POS of the first order, and that's what they have based this cable on. I spent about four hours trying this out, and it just didn't work. Then I took my old Cisco cable and USB to serial cable, downloaded Iterm2, added a USB Type A to type C adapter, followed some basic instructions and boom, there it was, working....so it CAN be done, because I did it! But not with the FTDI chip and instructions, that's for sure, not on my MacBook Pro....JUNK (because of the FTDI chip and drivers for the most part)
