Very good book. Straightforward text and easy to understand. I would recommend this book to any student. Good learning tool.

I bought this book for my niece, who is preparing to take the CMT exam. I think this book is fairly complete and offers a wealth of good material. I love that it is hole-punched so it can be inserted into a three-ring binder. There's nothing worse than a beat-up book you still need to use for study. This book tells the reader how to format just about any kind of medical document he or she will need to transcribe, e.g., a discharge, a diagnostic exam, etc., there are grammar and punctuation rules that are particular to the medical community, medical correspondence, even how to write a resume so that the user can get the best job. The reason I deducted one star is because I feel the book is quite weak on medical terminology. I did buy my niece the flashcards, sold here on Amazon, to help her prepare for the CMT test, and those flashcards are very comprehensive regarding medical terminology, so hopefully, my niece will do very well on the test. Despite its weakness in medical terminology, I do think any medical transcriptionist, especially one preparing to take the CMT exam, would benefit greatly from this book. By the way, my niece did not receive a CD with her book. I'm not sure she should have, though.
