The real McCoy!
This is a superb sword, a claymore. It's not the original claymore, which was a two-handed weapon, but a broadsword that came to be called a claymore. I had not expected anything so good, and I was aghast at the length of the blade - full sized, not shortened. The quality is outstanding. It is so impressive.

Excellent sword, best in price range, and category.
First I must say it is all metal. Brass guard, stainless blade and Scabbard. Very good craftsmanship, this sword will look excellent on display or in costume use. The blade comes dull but can be sharpened, however I would not recommend doing so. This is not a tempered blade and not safe for any real use other than display or wearing on a ceremonial/ cosplay uniform.Any swordplay will result in a bent/ broken blade and very likely an injured user.This blade is moderately heavy for one meant for display. Including scabbord it is just over 4lbs. Any use over an hour or so and the weight may bother the wearer.I have only 2 complaints, 1 minor and the other moderate.MINOR: when holding the sword in my right hand, the basket lightly brushes my knuckles on the middle 2 fingers, but as I am not engaging in any swordplay this should not cause injury.MODERATE: the blade width is just over 1 inch wide... that is mighty tiny for a "broadsword". For the weight of this Item I would have preferred an actual "broad" blade. In the scabbord it is not noticeable, so will work for display.In conclusion, the scabbord and basket are beautifully crafted. However it seems they have attached a Rapier style blade to the scottish style guard. For $65 this is a very decent display or costume item.

Begorrah! Issa bloody, bonny blade!
I assembled a pirate costume and wanted a Scotch theme. So I got this instead of a cutlass. The basket hilt claymore is the sword of Scottish gentlemen. It's heavy, and dull as a butter knife, so there shouldn't be any problem going into clubs, themed festivals and masquerade parties with it. It also comes with its own frog and belt, so no need to scavenge for that.

So the basket Hilt was very well put together the steel is very good the only thing I have to complain about is that the blade is not in line with the hilt I am going to try a few different things to see if I can correct that but as of right now straight out of the box the blade is about 15 to 20° offline

Good decorative basket hilt backsword.
Not something I want to take into battle, but a nice wall hanger. Good price for what it is. My Grandson will carry this as he leads our Clan in the next parade of tartans.
