Good product but pricey!
The smell is good. Non-sticky and non-greasy look and feel. Easily removable with water as its a water based pomade. Overall good decision but still high priced.

A weak clear gel basically
It's a clear gel like substance. I was expecting a muddy pomade that goes on like a wax but it isn't so. For my Asian thick straight hair it doesn't do the job of calming the back head hair down like other sticky waxy pomades do. It feels oily on the hair all day. The only thing i do like about it is that it smells fresh all day. I think perhaps it's just not the right product for my hair type. Perhaps if you have thinner hair and like the wet oily look then this is the product for you. The best way to describe this product is more like a weak clear gel that doesn't flake or crust out.

The pomade is actually a clear gel. It does ...
The pomade is actually a clear gel. It does what is written in the description: it helps to create defined, sleek style. The hold is not strong indeed. The finish is shiny.Think about John Travolta in "Grease" just the pomade is non-greasy.I've tried it on my boys, and it was ok, I've got the "look" for school photo book. )))

Great clear pomade!
This pomade does exactly what it says it does. It's a clear pomade (so clear you can see the bottom of the jar). It goes on like a pomade but has more of a gel look, shiny and sleek. A little goes a long way so you can be a little frugal in how much you use. The scent is a nice manly cologne fragrance. My 13 year old son tried it out and he really likes it.

Just enough hold, silky texture, mild smell
I've gotten used to using gel or spiking glue but was looking for something a bit less "glue-like" that still had a bit of hold. Dove's Pomade fits the bill. Using about the same amount as I would spiking glue, applying this to slightly damp hair gives it just enough hold to keep hair out of my face. It's a clear, thick "goo" that's nearly solid enough to be called a paste.I was concerned this pomade wouldn't have enough hold compared to the spiking glue I'd been using but it's "just enough". (note: I have very fine hair)I like that it doesn't leave a lot of residue but more of a silky sheen. It also doesn't irritate my skin. Smell is fairly neutral with a hint of the muskiness found in some of the other Dove Men+Care products.

Performs well as a shiny styling pomade but contains toxic chemicals
I usually use styling products that give a more matte finish, but once in a while I like to go a little more sleek and shiny with my hair. This pomade does the trick well. I find that using it sparingly is the way to go so that I don't create too greasy a result. The scent has a clean and fresh kick to it but isn't overwhelming. I found caffeine to be an interesting but fairly harmless ingredient to have in a hair pomade, but the ingredient that concerned and disappointed me most was the inclusion of yellow 5 (tartrazine), a chemical dye derived from petroleum and a known migraine trigger. That's one nasty chemical that is banned in some more progressive European countries and although it's far worse finding it in foods, I still don't like to see it in anything we put on our bodies because it can pass through skin and into the bloodstream. I have always liked Dove's soaps and some of their other products but it's time for them to start cleaning up their ingredients lists and opting for less toxic substances instead.
