Works Backwards And Solution!
Great Product!Don’t return it just yet, try this. : )Question:Yamaha keyboard & Yamaha pedal why does it sustain notes all the time and not sustain notes with the pedal depressed?Answer: (polarity / inverter switch)On my Yamaha P71, with keyboard powered On depress the pedal, while still holding the pedal down power Off the keyboard, release the pedal.Power the keyboard back On, the pedal should have inverted the output.This sequence worked for the P71. On other Yamaha keyboards you may need to depress the pedal with the keyboard powered Off and then release the pedal once the keyboard powers On.Happy Piano Playing!

Works as expected with my P-S500
Pedal works as expected with my P-S500. The keyboard itself, refuses to work properly with other brands of pedal.Half pedaling should work as well. Thu’s product works for what I use it for.

Better than FC4A, but not close to a real acoustic piano pedal
It does have half pedaling, but the range is small and not resemble well enough an acoustic piano pedal.That being said, I very much prefer the fc3a over my old fc4a, which is an on/off pedal.
