Worth the money
Great book for beginners and strength training. Dr. Yessis’ approach is so simple it may cause people to think he is off his rocker. 1x20 is a wonderful guide for anyone who wants to develop strength and keep it for the long run.

Covers the one set approach well
Book covers the one set strength training approach well.As I was already doing one set training, the biggest takeaway for me was to review the list of exercises suggested. I dropped some exercises that were overlapping the same muscles, and added new exercises to my routine (for example, hip extensors).I knocked off one star because the book is rather pricey. I would suggest $20 or something like that would be a fairer price.

Good program
Helpful book on this training system. A little repetitive and needs pictures but content is good

Good Info
I liked that the author gives different methods to progress and uses different sports. I have talked to one college strength and conditioning coach who uses this program with a Division 1 men’s basketball team.

Monitoring 1x 20 RM exercises
After reading dr.Yessis's book it was clear that this way of development is far most the best solution to building athletic performance I have met untill now. Monitoring during exercises gives the opportunity to correct and stimulate in an easy way. The athlete can respond and perform directly.

Good Program
Good read. The high school athletes i train enjoy the variety of exercises. Don't be fooled, tho. The workouts are challenging. The 20 rep sets of squats, bench, and trapbar dl are very tiring. Is this the best program for young athletes? I am not sure. However, it is certainly as worthy as any typical 3×5, 3×3, 5/3/1, etc....

Superior training knowledge
Genius in this book. I will be using the program on myself. We already use it with the athletes at the school where I work with great results. Learned a lot from the content.

Needs photos
The book needs photos of the movements. I had to watch YouTube videos of a guy showing each movement.

Not much information
The book is much, much too basic. As its written by a professor I was expecting something a little bit more scientific and information laden. I was quite disappointed. I do think the 1 x 20 method is good and makes sense for young athletes, general population etc because it is safer, still leads to strength gains but also helps technique and movement quality. However other than the book telling you its safer and still leads to strength gains there is actually not much else in the book. The program in the book includes a lot of one joint isolation moves such as bicep curls. I do not think the book offers value for money. All the information you really need is already in this review. Good method but disappointing book.
