No high gloss here.. in fact, the sides are dullish matte. This 3/4 size guitar shines in its weight and is delicate but loud enough to sing over the sound. It is a good sound from a smaller body. But plugged in will be as rich as you adjust it. Unplugged, It is not as loud as a full-size guitar. It is slightly softer. Perfect for dorms or small apartments with neighbors and thin walls. I have huge hands and yet it is easy to play. the sides are thinner so it is more comfortable and a perfect parlor guitar, or traveler. I have played for 50 years.. This is a treat to play and I still have the original strings on it. I love it.

Q: Any idea what size the truss rod is?

I looked at mine through the sound hole and I am certain that is a 1/4-20 or 1/4-24 threaded rod based on the hex head screw. That is a very common size.
