Q: Does it come in the original Opinel box?

I believe mine was in a original box. It was like a tube that was folded in on each end. It was not a presentation, or gift, box.

Q: For those of you who whittle, do you use it for softwood only, or hardwoods too? Greenwood or cured as well?

I think this knife is best suited to softwood. I have used it on rough cut pine (found while hiking), which was not fully cured and found it to be somewhat dangerous. The main reason I say that is the size and flexibility of the knife.

Q: are these knives friction folders?

No they are not friction folder. Look up high no kami to see a friction folder

Q: How would it do for stabbing? Say a back up for dispatching a hunt, i don't need the blade closing on my fingers, and how is the blade wobble?

Hi Jesse - Wendy from Tall Ridge here - Thank you for your inquiry! I can't answer to the stabbing, however, there is a proprietary locking ring which when engaged locks the blade either open or closed. I hope that helps!
