Q: is there enough room above the velcro strap -- before you get to the fingers -- to write an inspirational word in magic marker?

You wont have much on this model, the fingers will start very close to the top of the velcro, but if you look at the glove, you can see the gaps between the fingers, the bottom-most gap is where your fingers would bend so there is only a small space to work with. If you don't mind a full size glove, check out the 5307 model, we sell them in white if you need so you can add any color ink, but they are available in pink and you have a bit more room to work with.

Q: Will these work with kickboxing gloves?

I think you could wear them under heavy bag gloves but I don’t think they would work under MMA style gloves. I have both but I think it might be uncomfortable to strike with them on. They are great gloves though, I’ve had them a couple of years and like them.

Q: would these be good for pole dancing classes?

They grips arent very sticky so if you dont want too much friction you are good with these - the palm of ur hand will Be protected but the back of your fingers behind knuckle will likely not! Hope this helps!

Q: Do you have a mens version of these gloves?

We do not currently have a mens version, but there is the 5557 model which has less padding and uses split leather on the palm which more typically used on mens gloves. We have a gray color which has a gray logo as well so they are 100% neutral tone. We may launch a Black Label version which would be designed with heavier duty materials, but we haven't seen many comments asking for us to make that product so it hasn't been a priority.
