I received 2 of these items for a garage workshop. As it’s classed as a commercial area, I had the PAT test carried out on the new reels and one of them was “reverse polarity”. This means blue and brown wires (neutral and live) are cross connected inside. This has been confirmed by a continuity test of the plug pins to the pins on the female side. This is a major safety issue. The other one was fine but this means the safety cut out will not work too. It’s basically like wiring a plug up back to front.In my opinion there should be a major safety recall of this product.

The only reason I do not give this reel a five star rating is because sometimes it winds back on it's one.Good product, value for money

This is a fantastic piece of kit, heavy duty with solid wall mounting bracket, it is only 15 meters, but that is ample for my needs, the retractable and locking mechanism works fine. The only letdown is the cheap plastic looking socket, this was easily changed for a heavy duty outdoor waterproof socket (see photo). Overall this is a solid piece of kit that should last for years.

Very sturdy unit, with thick cable. If you have a large garage or shed it’s great to not have to reel out and in a traditional cable extension.
