Have realistic expectations
The media could not be loaded. The key to enjoying this item is to have realistic expectations. It’s not going to preform in the same way as a much more expensive machine. That being said, I’ve had a really great experience so far. There is a pretty steep learning curve and my first few attempts were not so successful. Here are some things that I’ve learned that have attributed to my success:1. It is small. Like two scoops small. Don’t overfill it or you’re going to have a bad time. If you have two kids you might think about buying two of these. (It also needs a full 24 hours of freezer time between uses.)2. Make sure to have everything ready to go. It will immediately start freezing around the edges once liquid is added.3. Don’t make the mixture too thick. Liquid consistency is better.5. Have enough fat in your recipe. Less fat means more ice crystals and less creamy texture.6. The lid doesn’t exactly lock in place. It does have some grooves that it will click into. After you set the lid on turn the lid and you can feel it click into place.7. You’re not going to get rock hard ice cream like at the store. It’s more along the lines of soft serve. If you wanted a more ice cream like consistency you’d need to freeze it after churning. If that’s what you want just buy the big ice cream machine.I have only used this for frozen yogurt but it works really well. I out about a cup of plain Greek yogurt 5% fat) in a bowl and add some almond milk and a splash of half and half. Then I add whatever flavoring or fruit that I want and stir it all up. I get the best results when it is liquid or near liquid in consistency. I’ve found it’s a good way to get extra protein while still satisfying the ice cream cravings. It’s easy to clean. The paddle detaches from the motor. It comes with a plastic spoon. I haven’t used any other spoons but I don’t think metal is a good idea. I hand wash everything and it doesn’t take much time.

Perfect for frozen yogurt!
I love this little ice cream maker! It does not work as well as a standard ice cream maker but very worth it for the compact design and ease of use.You really have to pre-freeze if you're using a traditional liquid mix or powder mix. If it does not freeze within the first 20 mins of churning, it's not cold enough. For my purposes, I LOVE it for making frozen yogurt - healthier and cheaper than most ice creams. It freezes yogurt out of the fridge within 5 mins; in fact I usually add a tiny bit of liquid so it doesn't immediately freeze to the walls. I also make pistachio ice cream using pudding mix and it's sooo good. The cup is super easy to wash and i stick it right back in the freezer so i can use it again the next day.It actually has some good uses outside of churning ice cream. I'll swirl some liquor or espresso in it to quickly chill for cocktails and iced lates.Well worth the low cost in my eyes, but don't expect it to work just as well as a bulky ice cream machine.

Compact and Easy to Use
I have a fancy upscale ice cream maker but I only need to make one pint or so every so often. This little gadget does the job for me. I don't eat ice cream every day. I can make a pint or so and hold the extra mixture for the next day.Be aware, you really can't make two batches in a row. It has to refreeze and I give it a full 24 hrs. for refreezing. I've not been disappointed. The ice cream is soft so I usually put it in the freezer for about 30 mins to firm up. It doesn't take up much space in the freezer. I am very, very please. But if you need 1/2 a gallon, use a full sized ice cream maker. Finally, it cleans up easily. Follow the direction for care. Only the freezer portion goes in your freezer. The remaining parts can go on a shelf next to your coffee/tea mug.

Lack of product quality, not as advertised, lack of product support
Piece of junk. Tried to use and everything an abject failure. Wish it was still returnable. I'd demand my money back. I guess it'll just have to go to a thrift store where someone can get it for $1 and make some frozen cups.I always liked Dash's products but then I bought, at the same approximate time as this, a smaller air fryer at Sam's. Good price. Inside not as advertised on out as it only cooks at one temperature, great if all you want are fried things like chicken nuggets and fries. Wrote to product support and was basically told not our problem, take it back to store. That is difficult for me at this time. Buyer beware of their products.

It Works But Won't Give You a Pint.
I was kind of excited about this. I love frozen treats, and want them to be healthy, so I make them myself. I followed all instructions to the letter: froze the canister, chilled the mixture, and even stuck the paddle and cup in the fridge. When everything was ready, I measured the one cup of ice cream mixture into the barrel, turned on the motor, and proceeded to let it churn, placing the base in a paper bowl on my table to keep it from migrating. When I checked it at the 15 minute mark, I was delighted to find a little mountain of soft-serve ice cream, which I scooped out and put in the freezer to firm up. Homemade ice cream is generally softer than store-bought, because it lacks the chemicals needed to make it rock-hard, so I wasn't expecting it to be as solid. It tastes better, and is much richer than anything you'll buy, which is a good tradeoff.Which brings me to my only complaint, and the reason I'm returning: it does not make a pint. I used one cup of liquid, as instructed, and it was quite far up the sides of the chamber. I made my mix with one half almond milk, and one half plant cream, which resulted in a delicious treat with a rich texture and stiff peaks - but only about one and one quarter cups, not the two it claims. I'll look for a larger capacity machine to replace it.For a kid, this would be fun, but if you have more than one little tot, you'll want to look for something bigger.
