NOT safe for snails, shrimp, crustaceans
When I received this bottle and looked at the directions, it has a caution that says, “Not safe for use with snails, shrimp, clams and other crustaceans, or mollusks.” I have 11 aquariums and they all have snails. I would not have bought this had I known about this warning, but since it is not listed *anywhere* on the product page, I ordered something I cannot use. I posted photos of the back of the bottle, as the seller should have done. I cannot speak to the actual effectiveness of the product, since I am not able to use it, but I took off two stars for incomplete information on the product page, especially since it is vital info that could result in the death of customers’ livestock.I also want to note, in response to some of the reviews I have read here, that it tells you to remove as much of the algae as you can before using the product. People who have a tank full of hair algae cannot expect to put in a capful of this and have the algae all gone the next day. It also cannot solve the original problem that caused the algae in the first place (too many nutrients, too much light). So, I recommend not only to remove whatever algae you can get to, but also do at least a 50% water change and decrease light intensity or duration before beginning use of this product. Finally, when stuff dies in your aquarium, (including algae), it messes up your water quality. It causes ammonia spikes that can absolutely kill some or all of your tank inhabitants. A massive algae die-off is going to cause a shift in chemistry that could kill your fish. (Another reason to remove what you can before adding this product.) Since I wasn’t there, I can’t say for certain, but people who have lost fish in the process of using this product may not have taken into account this issue, and may have inadvertently caused the deaths of their fish by not paying attention to the directions on the bottle or the quality of their water.

Keeps the algae down to a minimum.
I use this for my 50 gallon fish tank. When I bought the product, I had a severe algae problem. I cleaned the entire tank and within a few weeks algae was growing all over everything. A few days after the first application, the green algae had turned brown. The problem is under control now. I add the product to the water about twice a week and it seems to be maintaining an algae free or minimum amount of algae. I am satisfied that this product does what it says it does.

This is such a a great product. It has saved my fish many times. I have town water an it instantly takes the chlorine out an it kills the nitrites quickly

Not happy, algae got worse ... fish died
This stuff is awful. Used it as directed. My husband and I have had a saltwater tank for years and know how to use stuff like this. This made the algae so much worse now it’s worse than it was before, not to mention one of our tangs died a few weeks after trying this. He was perfectly healthy. We will have to clean out the tank and change the sand.
