An Authentic Spyderco PM2! What's not to like?
Obviously this is a GREAT knife, otherwise this wouldn't be my 4th time buying one ;) Two of them I previously sold since I needed some funds (knowing that I would get another as soon as I could) and the 3rd one I had sadly lost, which which is why I ended up ordering another that same night, I honestly felt naked without it lol. I've wanted the full black version ever since I first saw the PM 2 but I could never find it in stock, or couldn't justify the prices of the places that had it in, so all of my previous ones were in satin finished blades (which I still like very much). However, since I "had" to get another one, and get it asap, I figured what the heck, since I'm already spending this much, and this one being my 4th PM 2, I may as well go ahead and drop an extra $30 so I can "finally" get the one that I've always wanted as well as not having to wait forever for it to become available at another retailer that sells it at a lower price. So first, I'm very happy to say that I recieved an "authentic" Spyderco PM2, considering the growing number of fake ones being made (and made VERY similar at that) and distributed these days. I contacted the seller to address my concerns and they assured me that the knife would be comming from an authorized Spyderco dealer, and they told me that if/when anyone is caught selling fakes, they are immediately banned from selling through amazon altogether. They even gave me the name of the dealer and their contact info if I had any questions for them. This alone put me at ease, and the seller was quick to respond and very helpful. --- I had heard a few stories of some guys buying ones off amazon, and then "returning" it to get a refund. However, they put a fake one that they'd bought (at a very low price) in the box when they returned it so they could keep the real one, and save quite a bit of their money in doing so. Then the seller would send the retuned, unused fake to one of the nex buyers, not aware that it was indeed a fake they were sending. But in the "rare" chance of that happening to me, I knew that I would get a fell refund at no problem, although it would still be a PITA, but I knew the chance of that happening was low so I just went ahead and pulled the trugger. (This is all the an fyi for anybody who is interested)Anyway I recieved the knife, gave it a quick inspection looking for any signs the fakes have (there are a few comparison vids on youtube) and realized it was real. So again, this is an awesome knife, doesn't matter what color or blade finish you get it in, it's awesome. I'm glad I finally got the all black one since I just love the way it looks, plus the "dlc" coating on the blade is extremely durable and wil NOT rub off like other coatings. Sometimes after cutting something, it may appear to have a scratch in it, but that is usually only from the particals of what was being cut rubbing off on the blade and getting imbedded a bit in the coating, which I'm sure can be cleaned off.Just to list some of the things I love about this knife (since this "is" a review afterall) would be: 1, the overall shape and look of it which imho is just about perfect ... 2, the nice continuous belly from heel to tip is great for slicing.. 3, the aggresive jimping on the spine and in the finger choil give excellent grip for control cutting.. 4, the extra large thump hole makes it easy to open in a number of different ways.. 5, the G10 scales have the perfect amount of traction.. 6, the very strong and very reliable compression lock... 7, the fine tip of the blade is awesome for piercing and delicate work, such as digging out splinters ;) ... 8, the extra large lanyard hole (even though I don't use lanyards) can't easily fit doubled up, non gutted 550 paracord... 9, the S30V blade takes and holds a great edge... 10, that fact that ot's made in the USA makes it tat much cooler B) ... 11, the 4 way, tip up or tip down, left side or right side positional clip to carry it anyway you'd like... 12, I know I mentioned it when talkin abou the jimping, but the forward finger choil is very useful for delicate cutting chores... 13, the VERY durable dlc blade coating... 14, and finally, imo, it has great ergonomics and is very easy to hold in all the different positions. What else can I say other than I love my ( black) PM 2 ;)

The best folder I've ever handled
I'm sure quite a few reading this review were in my boat: the PM1 was released and impossible to find, then the PM2, an even more difficult find. You could get the knife, but not in a combination you wanted. Then the sprints with custom metals, then the S30 and S110. I wanted the S30 specifically, as im not yet sold on the sometimes chippable S110.I wrote spyderco and the PM off for a while and moved on. I recently returned to find them in stock, and in a color I wanted: black on black.I don't have prior experience with spyderco, I do have experiences carrying Benchmade, SOG, Cold Steel, Buck, Kershaw, some exotic/high-ends, and some cheap/low-ends.I've always preferred a tanto point for rescue reasons (stabbing through metal to release door locks from outside, etc), and as second, a reinforced clip point. I never cared for leaf or spear points. This knife changed that entirely for me. This point can cut through blister wrap and similar tough materials like butter. You hardly even have to press using the factory edge. The full flat grind is amazing for shaving anything finely, or going through stiff cardboard-like material without binding. The only negative isn't really even a con: don't pry with the tip! At the cost of a fragile tip you get surgical penetration. This is interesting for me and definitely a perk for EDC jobs. The main cutting area is more than sufficient for rough work, though. The G10 scales are beautiful and grippy. They do wear a bit softer over time (to the happiness of your pant pockets).I love the compression lock on the back, which we all know that is what sets the PM above the rest of their lineup. I've had all manners of manual & assisted, arc/axis/liner locks, and this truly feels the most robust and safest. Liner locks will eventually let the blade snag the thumb with heavier blades, as they fall. Sort of like M1 thumb for the Garand fans on here. Comes with the territory. The action comes a bit stiff. Your favorite petrol-based knife/gun oil will fix that in a jiff. Just open and close it over a couple of days, like a brand new leatherman, to loosen it up.There is still zero side-to-side wiggle when deployed. Awesome! My precious SOG Trident, and even some Benchmades, always had slop. I learned to expect it and forgot what tight lock-up felt like. It's really, really hard to even consider going back. A couple Zero Tolerance folders I debated on had considerable wiggle compared to this. What? Ridiculous. Just get the PM2.Considering the instant snap to deploy, quiet manual deploy capability, and smooth closing, I'll never go back to any form of assisted again. The pocket clip can be configured for right side tip up or tip down, and flipped to left side for the same 2 options.Add a lanyard with a small knot and this thin and lightweight folder is always at the ready, but never in the way.

Favorite EDC I’ve ever owned
Been collecting knives for over 5 years know. I’ve had many different knives I rotate through for my edc carry over the years. I’ve had tons of favorites for different reasons. If anyone going forward asks my favorite EDC going forward, this will be the knife. The thumb hole is perfect for quick opening. The blade is insanely sharp from CPM S45VN steel and is incredible. The rear lock makes it insanely fidgety and smooth to open and close and with the handle and steel for the size it’s incredibly light but durable. On the blade it says Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth. It’s little details like that that have made Spyderco win me over time and time again.Fantastic knife. Can’t say it enough. Performance is fantastic. I would trust this knife to do heavy work, or open your Amazon packages.
