Q: These cubes are listed as “Compression packing cubes...”. How does the compression work?

Great question! The compression is offered by the structured fabric, durable mesh, and strong YKK 5RC zippers. Because of these quality materials, the packing cube can retain it’s shape when it’s filled completely. This helps create a compact, smooth appearance compressing your items and allowing you to pack your clothing using less suitcase space. On the contrary, other brands with different fabric and mesh may bulge and stretch when filled as their materials are not chosen with this specific benefit integrated into the design. The materials we chose for our design are based on our personal experience traveling around the world for over 4 years with just a carryon. We achieved this by following the packing strategies created by the Travel Fashion Girl blog, which has helped millions of women pack carry on only.

Q: Other than being an inch smaller, how are these different than the Amazon Basics or ebags slim cubes?

For me, the one inch makes a big difference. I have both the ebags slim and the compass rose cubes. I stack my cubes in my suitcase in such a way that when the luggage is open, all I see are the slender sides. The compass rose bags with the two colors and numbers allow me to immediately grab the cube I need instead of looking for the right one. The compass rose cubes, when completely stuffed, fit perfectly stacked with numbers showing in my 20x14x9 travelpro carry-on whereas the ebags do not. I tend to grab these more so now than the ebags when traveling with my 22" carry-on because of the two color and number features.

Q: How much does each one weigh?

Not sure but each was very light. Unfortunately, they didn’t work as well as I had hoped and returned them.

Q: How well do these fit in an Away large carryon?

They fit perfectly! I have the Away bigger carry-on on and these definitely save even more space than other packing cubes. So glad I purchased them.
