SHOULD BE IN GLASS BOTTLE
DMSO absorbs really well into your skin, like really really well. This means that it shouldn't be in plastic bottle that may leach into the product, and then into your skin. Other than that, this product seems to work just fine (like other DMSO I've used). It does smell a bit, but I think that's par for the course. Price is average. Please, look up how to safely use DMSO before using this. Also, it will take finish off of wood. Don't ask how I know. Be careful!

DMSO topical antiinflammatory
Great product!! No garlic odor detected when used. It does have a burning, stinging feeling for about 2-3 minutes post application, topically. Results can be amazing as an anti-Inflammatory.

Finally found something that reaches the pain
I’ve had lingering pain in my left shoulder for years - it comes and goes depending on stress, bad posture (yes, I slouch), or falling asleep at a bad angle. I’ve tried all the usual fixes: lidocaine patches, menthol gels, herbal balms, capsaicin creams... the list goes on. Most of these numb the surface for a while, but that deeper ache never really goes away. And in colder months, anything cooling just makes me miserable. After reading up on DMSO and how it’s been used in medical settings for decades, I figured it was worth a shot. I knew it needed to be diluted, so I mixed it down to about 70% with distilled water the first time. The second time I mixed it aloe gel instead just to make it a little more soothing. I also made sure to apply it with gloves since it can pull things through your skin and I apply a number of different things during my nighttime routine so it’s better safe than sorry.I’ve been using it for about a month now, and honestly, it really does work. Within minutes of applying it to my shoulder (sometimes I use it with red light therapy), the pain drops from nagging and distracting to barely noticeable. There’s no tingling or burning, just this pleasant fast relief that feels like it actually gets into the muscle instead of just sitting on top of the skin. One heads-up: there’s a very mild garlic or sulfur smell straight from the bottle, but it doesn’t linger once applied. I haven’t had any burning, itching, or weird skin reactions, which I was a little concerned about after reading some comments. As for hydration, this definitely isn’t a lone product for moisturizing. If anything, you can use this with another moisturizer and the DMSO would help the other product absorb deeper into your skin. But this is one of the few things I’ve used that actually makes a difference with deeper joint or muscle pain. I don’t even reach for other creams anymore. A little goes a long way, and I’ll absolutely keep this in my routine. It's not magic, but it's the closest thing I’ve found to real, consistent relief.

It melted my socks and the dye from the socks is now a tattoo on my calf.
I first became familiar with DMSO when I was an Athletic Trainer back in the early 80's. At that time, it was only available in Veterinary grade, mostly used on racehorses. However, many human trainers decided it was worth investigating use in humans. Some athletes swore by it, but since it was illegal for human use, I stayed away. So, when this showed up on Amazon, touting its 99.9% purity and suitability for human use, I gave in to my curiosity... I applied per the instructions to an area high on my ankle where I have very dry skin. On the third application, I noticed distinct burning shortly after applying and checked to find the top of my sock melted and the dye from the socks absorbed into my skin, where it remains almost two months later. This was enough to convince me this product is still not for human use.

Great Quality
Excellent quality. Melting point of DMSO is 19 °C or 66 °F and it was a cool day when it arrived. It had crystallized in the bottle from being in a very cold truck during delivery. Well, the temperature that it melts should give a decent indication of purity. It just so happens that I keep my heat set to 65 °F in the winter. Sure enough, both bottles stayed solid at that temp, which was confirmed with my trusty old mercury glass thermometer I’ve managed to not break over the years. Next, I raised the temp by 1 °F to 66 and waited 24 hours. Still not much change other than a bit of softening. But at 67 °F and 24 more hours, it actually began to melt. Granted, it took a while. But it proved to me at least, that its claims of being 99% pure could likely be trusted.I realize this is being sold as a skin care product but I will be using it for its intended purpose as a solvent of both polar and non polar compounds. So I can’t speak to its use in skin care but I can say that as a solvent, it has performed perfectly in the one reaction I had needed it for.Another use for DMSO is its ability to act as a carrier of other compounds through the skin. This can be a very handy property but just know that it doesn’t discriminate between something that is toxic or not… So be smart with DMSO… or any chemical you come across, for that matter. DMSO itself is very non-toxic alone. But don’t go mixing strychnine or other toxins with DMSO and then handle a bunch of it without gloves… Understand?Oh, one note of interest I read while confirming the MP of this substance… DMSO has been shown to have quite powerful protective properties in the liver against Tylenol poisoning in mice… Acetaminophen overdose is one of the top causes of liver failure in humans. Knowing that low doses of DMSO can protect mice from liver failure, and you happen to find yourself in a situation where someone has taken way too much Tylenol... I let you draw your own conclusions. Just do your research, as you should with anything you put into your body. Not much I could find wrong with this brand. It appears to be exactly what it claims to be, I wasn’t shorted any product, and though you might find cheaper brands out there, it certainly wasn’t the most expensive. But if I was forced to pick one negative, it would be something minor and that all brands seem to promote. The idea of “low odor” DMSO is kind of ridiculous. To imply that you can remove a property of a compound but still call it pure is funny. Pure DMSO is going to smell like pure DMSO. You can’t change that without adding some other substance… at which point, you’d no longer have pure DMSO. Likewise, get enough of this on your skin and your going to taste garlic. Thats just inherent to this substance. But again, all brands claim this so I guess if they didn’t follow suit, someone might pick a different brand. Oh well. But hey, enough of my rambling. Just know that you’ve got a winner here with this brand. It’s good quality and whether for amateur/home chemistry or skin care, it will perform perfectly.
