Q: Does it work IN the shower, or does it leak/fall apart?

Have not use in shower but it is a sturdy brush just hard to get use to no handle

This brush definatly help. M y dsughter gets tennis ball size knots and this brush takes the knots out

True...that's why I wrote "...for thin hair that tangles easily. Also works for tangles in straight American Doll hair." haha My experience is ONLY with straight hair - some of the reviews I read say it works in curly hair, too, but I have no idea from personal experience. Because the bristles are short and very flexible, yet close-set, my guess would be that it might work better than a "regular"/traditional brush on tightly curled/nappy/kinky hair. But not sure...their website claims it DOES work "...on even the tightest curls..." http://www.knotgenie.com/

Q: Will this work during shampooing to clean the scalp?

Yes, it will work. I would not buy it again. It is cheaply made and falls apart. Not worth the price.
