Byait Korean Chili Powder 16 Oz (1 LB), Medium Hot Gochugaru Chili Powder for Authentic Korean Cooking, Kimchi, and Spicy Seasoning

I wanted Byait Korean Chili Powder because some recipes I use call for Korean Chili Powder but it's not something I had on hand. Compared to regular grocery store chili powder I don't think it was spicy at all, but it had a more vibrant red color and more of a general pepper taste. It's a very enjoyable chili powder.

Container's a little strange in that it has an extra sealant that i would prefer to keep around, as without it, the container looks too porous to keep the inside fresher for the shelf life. It's a hefty amount for the price, so it's decent value, but with how strange it is overall, I feel like it'll be a long while before i clear through this container.It's considerably more 'smokey' than my other experiences with Korean spices and doesn't ring great quality upon my tongue. It WILL add a good steady amount of heat to soups and whatnot at least, so that will be my main purpose for this. But I certainly won't rely on it to carry any extra depth of flavor otherwise...

This gochugaru is pretty good. It comes in a generous size and fresh. Great for a variety of Korean dishes and marinades, we'll use it at an attempt to make kimchi.

The chili powder is very fine and has a nice vibrant red. This chili powder has a hint of a smoky flavor with a slight sweet and a touch of spicy.

Flavorful and fresh. The chili powder is really good quality. The container is nicely sealed on arrival and it's easy to dispense the powder. It's really a great value.

I'm surprised by the 5 star reviews. The powder I received, well, something's off. It smells off, like plastic, and has a weird chemically taste. I would *never* put this on food. I've confirmed this with not one, not two, but three other people, letting them have a smell without letting on that I thought something was wrong with it. Everyone said "no way." Very disappointed.

The powder is fine and is easily shakeable out of the jar so that is great. The flavor is nice, it kind of reminds me of a smoked paprika but with some Korean chili inspiration. Really nice to sprinkle on some cuts of meat or anything really where you want to add a kick and some extra flavor. Nice!

This is a generous sized bottle. We like to try making a lot of different cuisine at home and Korean food has been a favorite, this will be at home in my spice cabinet. It's a good value size bottle.
