Razor-Sharp knife, excellent quality, great gift idea
This knife has quickly become my favorite in the kitchen. The Kurouchi Nashiji (Black-Forged) finish not only looks stunning but also makes the blade incredibly durable and rust-resistant. I used it to prepare a large meal for my family last weekend, and it effortlessly sliced through everything from boneless chicken to tough vegetables. The hammered texture really does reduce friction, making each cut smooth and precise. Plus, the blend of ebony and red sandalwood in the handle feels so luxurious and provides a perfect grip. One thing I did notice that if you leave the knife wet, it will likely get rusty, so it is important to thoroughly dry the knife immediately after hand washing it to prevent rust.

another great knife from Japan
Keeps the shap edge for long time. Weight is good and the handle is easy to hold in your hand. Like the design and the color of this knife which made it pretty unique than the common standard kitchen knife. I use a one of those hand held sharpening unit where you slide the blade through a slot groove. Goes though both vegetables and meat/fish with a clean solid feel. For a knife at this price point, this is a good all around kitchen utility knife.

Worth it
This knife is a solid choice if you’re looking to step into the world of quality kitchen knives without breaking the bank. We usually get cheap at big box stores or chef stores and replace frequently. As other reviews mention, it’s not an invincible blade, but it’s held up well for us over several months of daily use, slicing through all kinds of produce without needing any sharpening so far. Just a heads-up: **do not** put it in the dishwasher—obviously! Treat it well, and it’ll serve you nicely as a reliable, everyday kitchen tool for a beginner of sharp, quality kitchen knives. Much better than any cheap option!
