Versatile and Reliable Testing Tool for Fibre Network Engineers
This compact yet highly capable device is an essential tool for professionals working with fibre optic networks. It combines a wide testing range with robust design, offering engineers a streamlined way to measure power, diagnose faults, and maintain both singlemode and multimode fibre links. With support for ten calibrated wavelengths from 850nm to 1650nm, it covers all the necessary bases for telecom and broadband environments.Compatibility is a strong point here. Whether you're working with FC, SC, ST, or LC interfaces, the included interchangeable adapters make switching between setups effortless. This level of flexibility allows for smooth transitions in the field, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency during installations or repairs. An integrated VFL (Visual Fault Locator) with a 20km range is a particularly useful addition. It allows for quick fibre identification and fault detection, which is invaluable when pinpointing breaks or misalignments. Added to this is a handy RJ45 cable tester for quick verification of copper lines, and a built-in flashlight – perfect for working in dimly lit environments without needing extra gear.Built to withstand real-world use, the device is drop-resistant from up to 3 metres, which is a must-have in fieldwork conditions. Despite its rugged exterior, it’s lightweight, with an ergonomic grip that makes extended use comfortable. Battery life is another highlight - up to 120 hours of continuous use on a single charge ensures you’re not constantly reaching for a charger, and the auto shut-off feature helps conserve energy further.Whether used as a standalone power meter or paired with a light source for loss testing, this tool delivers a professional-grade performance. With thoughtful features and a durable design, it's a solid investment for network engineers who demand accuracy, convenience, and reliability.

This tester is handy
This tester is handy for testing Ethernet cables where it can test all 8 wires by lighting a small light on the front. It is good at testing to see if there is a fibre signal. Connecting a fibre from my switch showed a good reading. It is quite basic at testing where there is no way to test cable lengths. There is no test for breakages in fibre cables that I can see. The torch is handy.

Great tool!
The SKYSHL 800nm to 1700nm OPM is an excellent optical fiber power meter tester that offers precise and reliable measurements for various fiber optic applications. I recently used this tool for a few installations and maintenance tasks, and I was very impressed by its performance. The wide wavelength range of 800nm to 1700nm makes it incredibly versatile for testing different types of fiber optics, ensuring that I can use it for almost any job.One standout feature is the optical power meter (OPM) with a measurement range from -50dBm to +26dBm, which covers a broad spectrum of fiber power levels. This makes it easy to get accurate readings whether you're working with weak or strong signals. The addition of the 20km 650nm VFL (visual fault locator) is also a great bonus for pinpointing issues with fiber cables, especially when troubleshooting. The device is compatible with various connectors like FC, SC, LC, and ST, making it adaptable to different setups. It's also lightweight and easy to handle, so I didn’t have any trouble using it in various environments. In conclusion, the SKYSHL OPM is a solid, reliable, and highly functional tool for anyone working with fiber optics. Whether you’re a technician or an enthusiast, it’s a great investment for accurate and efficient testing.

Basic optical meter
This is basically an optical power meter that can measure the power in a fibre. It can operate at various wavelengths to suit the type of fibre being tested. It can detect lossy cables which need replacing but what it does not offer is time echo testing where the distance to a break or disruption in the fibre can be measured. It also ethernet cable testing with it basically continuity in each wire. The unit is small and portable and can withstand being dropped without damage.

Basic Optical and RJ45 Cable Test
The media could not be loaded. I received this Optical Fibre Power Meter Tester for free through Amazon Vine to provide an honest and unbiased review.I had hoped this tester would offer more functionality; however, it is rather basic. The optical measurements are in dBm, and there is no time-of-flight sensor for measuring lengths of cable or detecting damage at a specific distance. The tester can also work on RJ45 Ethernet cables, but it is very basic, with a series of connectivity LEDs showing each wire in sequence, separate from the main display. There is also a built-in torch. The instructions are minimal. I think its best use is for those using optical cables for Ethernet wiring through a switch. It will get you out of a hole, but it won't provide a huge amount of diagnostics for more complex problems.
