Razor Sharp, Reliable, but Finicky Sheath
This is my fifth Microplane tool, joining my coarse and fine graters, and it performs exactly as expected: razor-sharp, precise, and excellent for small or uneven spices and roots. Cleanup requires some care but is manageable with patience. The blade housing is well designed, but the sheath’s plastic lock is a weak point—it requires significant force to remove or secure, and I expect it will fail long before the blade dulls.Comfort in use is noticeable, and I opted for a hand-held plane versus a counter-based unit. I've found small surface nobs on ginger or galangal, for example, require more deft grating. This hand held option achieves that. Also, it is run through the dishwasher consistently and without issue. As soon as clean, sheath is returned until future use.Verdict:Outstanding blade quality and performance for fine prep work. Just be prepared for a fussy sheath and handle with care to avoid premature breakage.

Best grater for nutmeg I have found.
This was a replacement for one that was broken. I use this exclusively for nutmeg and it works perfectly. Lesson learned, don't let someone else use it. :-)

Works great!
I did not buy this grater for spices. I bought it to shave down my corns and calluses. This is the perfect size for this task. Cleans up easily with a sharp “rap” and water rinse. It is so sharp that I can shave the thickness that I need without cutting myself. It performs exactly the way it need it to perform. The handle is very comfortable and fit my hand nicely. The length is perfect for getting the angle I need to shave the area I want. I will buy this again. I will buy another one for my kitchen when that one fails.I do not recommend the untrained to do this. As part of my family practice, I took care of diabetic feet for many years.

Would recommend
Works well for nutmeg. I like that the cover can be attached to the bottom side and catches the nutmeg, which allows me to get a better idea how much I am actually using.

Easy to use Nutmeg grinder
This is perfect for grinding fresh Nutmeg and fresh nutmeg tastes really good. I have very weak hands with joint deformities and I can use it, so anyone can use it. Not hard to grate at all. Sturdy and a good quality.

Sharp and safer than other spice shaving methods
Rounded shape exposes a line rather than a plane of raised cutting. Hand is less exposed than with a flat grater surface. And, nutmeg is grated more quickly as hand can safely apply downward force.

Great little tool
Small size is great when kitchen space is limited! Is great for spices like nutmeg and also meting citrus.

It works very nicely as a grater
It works very nicely as a grater. I wish there was a rubber piece on the tip so you could more easily rest it on something while grating. Works poorly for cinnamon, but very nicely for nutmeg.Update March 1st. Its possible to work it on a stick of cinnamon bark. You need to grate the cinnamon bark perpendicular to its length and then move the grater to hit each side without wearing all the way through the cinnamon stick. This way you get some fine cinnamon, but theres left over bark that would just fall apart if you grated it. Its still easier to use a kitchen spice mill (the whirly blade grinders that are supposedly for coffee but make terrible coffee).
