Shimano R55C4 brake pads for Carbon Wheels
I bought and installed a new set of Shimano R55c4 rim carbon material brake type for my brand new carbon fiber wheel set I put on my old Trek carbon bike. So far so good and I’m hoping it does not do damage to my rim brake type carbon wheels. I didn’t use the enclosed rim brake pad that came with my new carbon wheels. Hoping Shimano made the right compound that would stop my bike and not ruin new carbon fever wheels. I’m banking on the Shimano name only and no prior experience with this Shimano R55C4 for the carbon brake pads.

Not Happy
I've used this brand before and like them. I am not happy about what I received. When I ordered these I expected new. What I recieved was brake pads not in the original packaging and partially used. Now I don't mind paying less for a "open box" item. But when I pay 40$ for a new item. New is what I expect. I would highly recommend the Shimano pads for carbon. Just not from this seller.

This not made for carbón bikes. It makes a horrible sound, like a horned when using the brakes , very disappointing, had to stop on the way to bike store to buy new ones

May be noisy on ZIPP NSW Wheels.
Pads where in Shimano box and looked brand new. Installation was straight forward. They seem to brake as good as my ZIPP pads. However, I only installed these on the rear wheel and it was fine when braking easy but when braking harder the Shimano pad on rear wheel is VERY noisy. Sounds like a horn blaring, and there’s a slight vibration through the brake lever. I wouldn’t recommend these for ZIPP wheels. Or maybe just the ZIPP NSW Wheels.

No way to tell if they are for carbon wheels!
Brake pads do not come in original packaging. There is no way to tell if these are for carbon or allow wheels since this part number R55C4 is used for carbon or alloy. Only original packaging you can determine for which rim. I will not take my chance. Why not leave it in original packaging???
