Working great

Very easy to set up and use. Manual override switch on the the side for non technical members of the family. Integrates well with the EeWe app and then on to Google home. Let's you see when the socket was used and how much electricity consumed.

I've used several different wi-fi enabled smart plugs, and this is the best so far, except for its recommended app. More on that in a moment.The size and shape of the plug are excellent: they enable it to fit into crowded spaces like extension leads and plug bars with no trouble. This is better than many other smart plugs I've used, which are bulkier.When plugged in, it runs very cool when not under load, again better than some of the plugs out there.In use, it is very easy to pair, using its recommended app, by scanning the QR code on the plug.However, the recommended app, eWeLink is a no-no for me. It asks for all kinds of non-optional information to sign up (name, address, email, phone number) and you can only use it for a limited "trial" period of 60 days if you don't sign up.The app is developed in China, and I'm not confident of the data protection laws in China to provide them with all that information.It is possible - but highly technical - to use alternative apps, and will involve re-flashing the firmware in the plug.So overall, the plug works, but I won't be using it, due to the data risk of the only app it works with.Disappointing, and can only give 3 stars.

Great plug, and easy to connect to my network through the Smart Things app. I can control it with my voice through Alexa or on my phone using shortcuts, and it's very reliable. My main gripe is that when I upgraded my router to WiFi 6, running on a 5GHz frequency, all my smart plugs stopped working. As a result, I had to re-add all 15 smart plugs and lights in my home to a guest 2.5 GHz network, which was very annoying.
