Works great!
I made sure to read reviews on this product before we purchased it because I was new to the idea of using a UV light. We decided to give it a try and are very happy with the results! It was small enough to fit in the filter part of our fish tank so that the fish didn’t get direct contact with the light. It took about 5 days total to get the water cleared up, but it was very green when we started. We used it in a 20 gallon tank, so that may also be why it took so long. Very much worth the price.

Don't put it in with the fish.
This should be absolutely clear in the instructions, and either it's not, or people just aren't reading them: Do not put this in the tank with your fish or other animals. It will kill them. You're not even supposed to look at the light. It can damage your eyes, and possibly your skin, too.I put mine in the filter, which hangs off the back of the tank, and is black, so it kept the light away from everything but the water flowing through it. I wasn't sure how well it would work there, since the water only gets exposed to the light for a short time, but I had the greenest water I've ever seen, and in just a few days, it was crystal clear, and no fish or live plants were harmed. That's why we read the instructions and the reviews, people.I can't speak to how long it will last, because I turned mine off after the water cleared. It's been weeks, and the green water hasn't come back, so there's no need to run it all the time.

Great UV light
For the money, getting a 13 w UV light is awesome. I do wish they had one that add a switch that was made for the outdoors or a way to add an extension cable to it. It would be great for a small pond. I've already used it in my aquaponics system.

Turns cloudy green water back to crystal clear!
I recently faced the issue of my aquarium becoming overrun with green algae, leaving my tank looking like cloudy green water. Water changes only seemed to give false hope, and the water always came back looking like green tea. I completely drained my tank but the cloudy green algae kept coming back. When I saw this UV Lamp I thought maybe this can be the solution. I was a bit concerned about UV exposure and my little tank doesn't exactly have a spot to keep this away from the fish. So I made an enclosure out of an old calking container and dropped it in the tank since the bulb is water proof.I am happy to say after just a few days of running this powerful lamp the green algae is gone! The only issue I encountered was the ammonia spike after killing the algae so fast. I had to transfer my shrimp because they didn't like the parameter spike. This really did fix my tank and I'm so happy it was an affordable fix!

Inexpensive UV lamp
This is a very inexpensive UV lamp that comes with a power source. Works OK. Do not expose your skin or eyes to UV radiation. It causes very bad burns and may permanently damage the eyes. Don't expose fish, or any other animal to UV radiation, it will permanently damage it or kill it. This is the second lamp I ordered. The first one I got from another supplier exhibited some devitrification (milky white patches on quartz shown in the photograph) and I was a bit concerned about it. Usually, it is a sign that lamp was already used for a while. I ordered another one from this supplier and it had the same devitrification pattern. My guess is that both are probably OK.
