Wish I would have got it sooner
This thing works amazing and should have gotten one years ago. We got down to 15 degrees and it kept the feeders from freezing. Easy to use .

At 22 degrees F, these keep the syrup from freezing (UPDATE for below 20 degrees F)
This is an UPDATE after the 'deep freeze' of Jan. 2024 -- at 15 degrees F and below, one feeder exposed to wind and not close to our house began freezing entirely; the other was icing at the top. To address this, we installed 40-watt APPLIANCE bulbs in each heater -- they worked, preventing freezing (and did not cause any damage to the units). (We reverted to the 15-watt bulbs when temps warmed.) A further tip: The black material around the top of the heater tends to stick to the base of the feeder and make it hard to remove -- we've used a smear of petroleum jelly around that upper rim along the contact area to reduce that problem. The heaters have held up decently (the elastic fastening cords need to be tightened from time to time, and likely will eventually lose their power).ORIGINAL POSTING FROM FIRST WINTER --For the Anna's at our location who winter over, we combined 2 of these heaters and 2 'Diamond' feeders (Amazon # B005F5NH6E) on opposite sides of the house (to reduce territorial warfare). The setup kept the syrup liquid despite 20-degree freezes, and (as pictured) the hummingbirds were able to tank up before entering nighttime torpor. Two advisory pointers: (1) The top of the heater unit (it's circular) must rest snugly against the underside of the feeder, which requires a LARGE and FLAT feeder base. Anything smaller than the Diamond (or not flat-bottomed, or not circular, or with feeding posts attached below the base) would not work as well. (2) Consider ordering a supply of clear 25-watt appliance bulbs as well (standard US household bulb base -- item # K01495); both of the two bulbs shipped with the heater had broken filaments (likely from shipping vibration). We chose larger feeders because the syrup won't be exposed to heat over the freezing periods when these will be in use, and because it would be fiddly to put out small quantities of syrup and take apart the heater units each time (that is necessary to refill the feeders). The power cord is long enough to run to a protected location, includes an an/off switch, and appears well constructed.

Works well but at this price it should.
Still pretty plasticky. Can't see this lasting. Not cheap. Materials should be much better or price should be 40% lower!

Hook broke immediately
First of all, the instructions to put this thing together are really horrible. The first 2 steps were good, the remaining steps were, “assemble this part, this part, and this part”…literally ZERO help. So, I get it put together (as far as I know it was correct), plugged it in and it worked. However, when I went to attach the clips to the bungees, the cord has too much slack. It also looks a hot damn mess because they knotted it on the outside, rather than inside the cup. Maybe this is a safety precaution, but more likely poor assembly. I get it hooked to the feeder and one of the hooks snaps. Now I’ve got this thing loosely hanging from 2 hooks and am crossing my fingers it keeps the little hummers’ food warm.Poor designPoor instructions

Assembly instructions hard to decipher.
This looks like it will work well; I haven't tried it out yet and have hopes that it'll keep the sugar water from freezing for the little birdies. However, the assembly "instructions" that came with it are terrible! It's worse than trying to decipher IKEA directions! I think I've put it together correctly but it seems like the little bulb sits awfully low in the feeder. Fingers crossed.
