great-- if you get one that works
pros:-it's a great toy that keeps kitty occupied for a while. she will frequently "ask" to play with it by pawing at it. sometimes she doesn't even try to chase after the wand/tail bit and enjoys just sitting there watching it move.-there's different speeds/modes, and it eventually shuts itself off after about a half hour of play so as to conserve battery life.-it's easy to put together and take apart for storage.cons:-unfortunately it's easy for kitty to pull the wand off the spinning platform, so I occasionally have to reattach it while she's playing.-buying this toy comes with an extra added expense: batteries. Some rechargeable batteries and a charger seems to be the ideal setup, otherwise it feels wasteful to keep buying and discarding them.-it's not the most durable, which explains amazon's caveat that this item is returned often. I broke one of these by tripping over it. I bought another one and it stopped working after a day of use. now I'm on my third one and it *seems* to be holding up, though kitty has bitten the "tail" part off the wand (it still works, but that's too bad). I guess it just depends on whether or not you get a good one, but it's worth it if you do.

Our cat loves it!
Seems much more durable than the other brand I previously purchased. Our cat killed the other one by catching and holding the wand, which must have burned the motor out. She does the same with this on, but it hasn't hurt it. She lets it go in a moment. She loves to stalk it, then pounce on it, and run out the room, to repeat.I highly recommend for those cats who prefer 'interactive' toys to turn on their "prey-drive"! :DETA: I am so terribly sad to say that now....2 months later.....this toy has also died! The motor just isn't strong enough to last in these toys, and needs to be considerably stronger. I would gladly pay more for a longer-lasting version. This is an excellent toy that my cat loved so much, but it gradually got slower, and slower, and weaker, until it no longer interested her. Toy also needs to be able to take apart and remove hair and put back together. My entire apt. is carpeted, so there is no way to avoid cat hair from getting inside.PLEASE, PLEASE keep improving keep improving this very worthwhile toy! With a guaranteed longer-life I would gladly pay more for it! :D

Cats enjoyed it when it worked, but it is flimsy and will burn through batteries fast
I got this for my cats after seeing how much my friend's cat loved his Cat's Meow. My two cats are young, hyper, and very distracting when I am trying to wfh. This seemed like the perfect interactive toy to distract my cats when I needed to focus in. At first it was great. My cat's would go berserk over it. However, in only the first month big problems came up that ultimately made me drop my rating to a 2-star review. My complaints with the device are as follows:1) It is not durable.A good cat toy (especially an interactive one) should be able to withstand abuse. After 2 weeks of use, the electric motor struggled to rotate the wand. The ball at the end of the wand would get stuck to the yellow fabric mat causing it not move. This got worse overtime after my cat chewed on the ball at the end of the wand (see pictures) causing jagged edges that would get stuck on the fabric.2) The batteries are a big pain and wasteful. This device burns through batteries quickly, the type of batteries are uncommon (big C cell batteries), and the batteries are not cheap. If you use this regularly/daily, the batteries will run out in under 2-weeks. I seems very wasteful both from a environmental perspective as well as a cost perspective to have to replace these batteries all the time. This device really should have been rechargeable, and I would have been okay paying more upfront vs having to rebuy batteries over and over again.3) The electric motor is weak.As I discussed in my first complaint, the motor constantly gets stuck and struggles to rotate the wand. It has little to no torque and will make an annoying whining sound when it inevitably gets stuck. Even after sanding down the wand to prevent it getting stuck, the motor still struggled. After some investigating I found that if pressure is applied to the top of the toy it may mess up the motor. This is yet another example of poor design. When a cat is playing with this toy, where do you think they are going to pounce? The top of the toy, duh. I feel like this interactive toy was designed with good intentions but never actually tested with cats. Either that or it's just a cheap cash grab. Either way, I do not recommend this toy to other cat owners. I did give it 2-stars vs 1-star however because I think with the right redesign this toy could be great. Before experiencing durability issues it was a huge success with my cats.
