I was suprised with the quality of this piece in the best way. Everything is thought out and it shows. I attached my Ninja V to this baby and its solid as a rock.The knob in the center tightens the attach point and you can slot the allen wrench into it for tightening it down even more.The silver bolts control the tilt and lock it into a fixed position. It stays where you put it which is why I bought it but if you want to be able to tilt your monitor in the field get the other nato piece that spins as well and you have an awesome duo.No problems with the nato lock this thing is small but built like a tank.If they have a hotshoe mount like this I'll probably pick one up in the future.

It's not cheap, but it's the best way to hold a small or medium size monitor onto a camera and take it off. I regularly use one to hold a pretty decent sized Shogun Inferno. It's sturdy and easy. If I were to complain, it's that the screws which allow you to tilt the monitor require an Allen Wrench. If you don't have them set just right, it will be too stiff or loose.

Works as intended, no downsides, Sturdy, easy to use.

Must have a cage to attach this on AND a mini nato rail sold separately. The tilting works great. Doesn't easily loosen. Only problem is you really can't use this with a handle on a DSLR, because they both get in the way on top. The quick release is a life saver. It's way more compact than a magic arm, and won't give out when you least expect it.

I've been buying SmallRig gear for a bit over a year now. Been doing video professionally for over 30 years and photo for about 7. I need gear that I can count on to work, is well-designed and won't break. That's why I'll keep buying SmallRig. 90-97% as good as the stuff that costs multiple times as much.

This is another example of the Smallrig components that I have been gathering, as I build a system to use a DSLR to make videos. It is sturdy enough to hold a video-recorder/monitor on top of the cage that holds the DSLR camera. The low profile helps keep the whole assembly from getting too top heavy. Tilt back is very secure, and allows the monitor screen to be viewed straight on.

I use this with my Atomos Shinobi 5-inch HDMI 4K Monitor and mount it on my Smallrig cage for Sony A7SII. Works great. Make sure get a nato rail to clamp on.
