Even better than "Welcome to the Jungle" (I know, crazy)
The prequel to this, "Welcome to the Jungle" was a brilliant take on the Jumanji brand. Never to be surpassed, I thought. The Next Level goes even further and better, with brilliant performances by all cast members but especially Jack Black and Dwayne Johnson, as they take on the personas of two retirees (Danny DeVito and Danny Glover). Beautifully done, and just shows how great actors can be.The brilliantly written one-liner comedy lines will probably be missed by younger audiences but made very real to those "getting on a bit".As a (reasonably family-friendly - some not too bad expletives) comedy action adventure it's superb and well worth the six quid Amazon wanted from me. And, of course, I can watch it all again whenever I want.Do stay tuned after the film (the credits go on for a full 10 minutes) to watch the bonus scenes where the actors talk about various aspects and Jake Kasdan (director) explains how the the suspension bridge theme almost went into the first Jumanji film. Well, the second, if you include the original. And stay tuned after the first Bonus scene as there are long pauses between them - don't miss any!Important: watch the first Jumanji film with Dwayne Johnson first, otherwise all the "in jokes" will be totally lost on you.

Enjoyable Romp
Naturally it's the case that this has to be compared to the first of the rebooted films and it seems that some feel the first was better.I don't. They are both a tongue in cheek romp where you suspend your disbelief and enjoy the film for what it is. An escapist bit of enjoyment.Special effects are good as one would expect today and the scene is familiar turf to the original with the same tropes, nods to popular culture and so excellent hammy acting by Johnson. It is of course very similar to the first film, but not worse for sticking to the theme. I'd say that this film was a little better becuase it's settled the basic idea and the film moves on immediately from there.Overall if you enjoyed the first film and fancy a bit of mindless movie magic then this is the way to go.

On a par with the other two films!
Tops the second, and cheered my Son up who was not sure a sequel was made for the right reasons.I first got both my children into the original, then we watched the first one of this generation. When this second film came out I pre ordered it with high hope's, my children on the other hand did not "how can they improve it??" "Just after your money"..I started watching it on my own then my Daughter started watching after the first couple of minutes, then my Son came down stairs a quarter of the way though and stayed to watch the rest! The next day later we all watched again lolIt's one of those films you can watch that close together, you do miss things and visually it's stunning with great special effects and cast.

Hilarious and great fun
Who could ever have imagined that The Rock could play Danny DeVito playing a Grandad playing The Rock? Well it happens here and it works. The story carries on with the same characters as the previous Jumanji film as they get on with real life. Spencer is on a downer and thinks Martha isn't worthy of him. How can be her hero again? By going back to Jumanji, except this time things don't quite go to plan and his Grandad gets caught up in it too.As a family we've seen this film together several times and we always enjoy it. Great cast, lots of danger and a big dose of escapsim. Parts of it are comedy gold! Highly recommended.

Confused or Whay
This was not a good sequel to Jumanji in the Jungle. The constant flipping of characters and their avatars just did not seem to work and confused me. The actors are a great bunch so it was watchable if a little disappointing.
