I definitely recommend this unit. It's excellent. I have a few portable carplay units and this one is very good. What you need to understand however is how you connect it. FM Transmitter is good, however, the actual FM transmitter/antenna is part of the provided cigarette lighter/12v power cord. If you power your device like I do with a USB-C to USB-C cable to a USB connection in my car, then you won't be able to do FM transmitter as an option to your stereo. You have to use the provided power cord adapter. Also, if you travel a lot of distance, you may find yourself having to change FM stations because you might be driving through an area that has an fm radio station on the same or close to channel you have the carplay set to.Bluetooth is also an option for playback, but this will many/most times be a royal PITA "Pain in the @$$". Why; because you are setting up the bluetooth stereo or bluetooth/aux adapter that you're using, directly to your phone. It works, but your phone is also connected via bluetooth to the apple carplay. Many times (at least in my experience) while you are listening to music or whatever, the audio with fade or drop from the stereo and then come back on. With your phone, the carplay, and the bluetooth stereo or bluetooth/aux adapter all trying to use the bluetooth, it can get interference from each other.The best connection is the wired aux port. If your car has a 3.5mm aux input, run a cable from the carplay to the aux input. This will give you the best sounding and stable connection. If you don't have an aux input, but you have a cassette deck built in, you can use a cassette to 3.5mm cable adapter. Just make sure you get a decent quality cassette adapter. Some are cheap, noisy, and bad sounding. Just check the reviews.The FM Transmitter quality is pretty close to the aux direct connection, so it's definitely a good option. Just remember, you might have to change the radio station. And you must use the provided power cord. But it's not hard to change the channel. Even when driving.Other than the connection to your car (Try them all and see which works best for you). This is a great unit. I am using the aux cable. On my one vehicle it's great because the aux input is directly on the stereo; so a short cable works. On my lexus it's not so great. The aux connection for the stereo is actually in the center arm rest console, so I have to run a cable to it. But either way, it's still great to have apple carplay for iheart radio, pandora, spotify, etc. as well as my google and apple maps, texts, emails, phone calls, etc. all directly there hands free when driving.

This Apple Car Play screen works well. It connects quickly and smoothly. Very easy to use. Unfortunately the screen washes out in any sunlight. I have adjusted the brightness, hue, contrast and saturation until I am blue in the face but even with multiple adjustments, the screen is either too dark or too light to see clearly. The screen also has a large amount of reflection which adds to the difficulty in viewing.
