Martensitic!
(I had to look it up). Great little knife - big handle, small blade. VERY sharp. Nice plastic sheath with clip. Definitely more of an EDC than a hunting knife. I can't help thinking they should have called this the 'Gonzo' knife! Must have gotten lost in the translation...

Incredibly sharp and long lasting blade
I've been buying from this brand for around 6 years now and absolutely love them, I took this knife camping and was able to split firewood by batoning it with a piece of branch, carve a spoon out of a piece of oak, and the edge was still sharp enough to shave with, The handle is shaped so it fits really well in one position, but I prefer their other model for more intricate things like carving, this one is better for more brute Force things

When a scandi grind is not desired
Fits well in my medium size hand. Useful blade style. Great job on the finish and light weight. Not used enough to attest to its durability. Mine arrived with a real nice edge. Add it to your massive knife collection with confidence. Hey Ganzo , make a version with a half inch longer blade and I bet it would sell out.

Nice
So far it seems really nice. I haven't put it through the ringer yet, but there is lots to like about this knife. What I'll do is compare it to a Mora Pro S heavy duty. So they have a similar blade length around 3 inches. Both have a thicker blade stock than the companion. The Ganzo is even thicker than the heavy duty. The Ganzo has a full flat grind which most prefer for Bushcrafting, where the Mora Pro S heavy duty has a scandi grind as most mora's do. The handle of the Ganzo is grippy top to bottom and thicker which for me is fine, but for my wife wouldn't be the best choice. This handle is probably more comparable to the Companion heavy duty handle that is much larger. The plastic sheath works fine and is very similar to the Mora sheaths, but the Ganzo belt clip is softer and is easier to pull out to put on your belt. Will this break or will it be just fine, I don't know. If it breaks, I'll simply get another sheath. This knife is much heavier than the standard Mora Pro S and the Pro S heavy duty. I'm not sure how far that tang goes through the knife of the Ganzo, but I would say it's girthy. The Blade steal... I just can't say how good or bad it is at this time.Enjoy!!

perfect
I collect knives, LOTS of knives. I use them hiking, hunting, camping, etc and even in the kitchen. A SUGGESTION for new knife owners, use them in the kitchen, get used to them, learn how to use that particular knife. SO, I think this knife is Perfect. The first gen Ganzo was really light, like my Cold Steel LITE knives. They work, they are sharp , they retain an edge very well, and easy to sharpen. This knife has the right length for all uses, the handle fills your hand , the sheath is on/off the belt quite easily when you want it to come off. The blade design lends itself to harder ? use . I have a feeling I am getting a few more as gifts to my buddies and outdoorsy daughters!

Really nice fixed blade for the price! Mora Knives need to step it up!
First of all I just received this in the mail but my initial impression is a good one. I love the design and the colors(I got the gray and green, btw the green is a bit nicer color green than the pic gives it credit for) the feel in the hand is great. The reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is that it misses the mark by not being full tang. Also, I would LOVE if Ganzo would make this exact knife in something like S35VN(or even 14C28N) with a full tang, I know that would increase the price a little but that's why you already have this knife, now make a nicer model in S35VN or another really good steel like it. I'd buy 4 of them if you did...;-)
