Best Leadership Book Out There!
I got this book following being a Head of Department and realising I wasn’t holding my team to account. I was truly afraid of difficult conversations and I had spoken to other leaders about it but quick discussions weren’t helping. It isn’t an exaggeration when I say this book has solved ALL of my problems. It covers everything - why to have the conversations, when to have them, how to start them, how to structure them, how to end them, common issues people find. Honestly I feel so much more confident now about ‘healthy conflict’ and I genuinely feel that dealing with difficult conversations makes me a better person and colleague, not a worse one (this is how I used to feel!) - If this is something that concerns you, or even if it doesn’t, get it. Even if you’re not in leadership this book is great - it’s also helped me with tricky conversations with students and parents.

A practical guide to feedback conversations.
Clear and direct with lots of links to wider theory and practical tips for creating a culture of feedback. The book draws upon already familiar theories of learning (such as the competency curve) but it distils an often unruly topic into a simple set of actions to experiment with. There are also lots of linked to additional content (videos and online information) which I haven't yet explored but I think will provide useful when experimenting with the tips.Among other things, the book covers:- the need for difficult conversations and the benefits you can achieve- how to start difficult conversations- structuring the conversation for effective outcomes- some legal pointersThank, I enjoyed it and can see myself dipping into it in future.

Really helpful for good classroom management
A very insightful book with lots of good ideas. However, I bought this as a brand new book only for it to arrive soiled and dog-earred. Disappointing
