Decent wind gauge but instructions are lacking
Item:HoldPeak CFM Meter HVAC Anemometer with 270º Rotatable Detector, Handheld Wind Speed Meter Gauge with Touch Button, Waterproof Rechargeable Air Flow Velocity Measuring Device for HVAC Outdoor SailingPackaging:Packaging was ok. The product box is somewhat rigid but the item itself does not have any additional padding or protection.Material Quality:The item is mostly made of plastic. It is not very substantial.Assembly/Build Quality:The item is light weight and does not feel very solid. It feels somewhere between cheap and high quality tending more to the cheap end. This isn’t to say it’s bad, it just doesn’t feel very high quality.Marketing Material:The images posted with this listing (at the time of this review) represent the product well. There is no misrepresenting here and everything is as it looks in the picture. The listing claims it has a “Pro CFM Meter” but I am not so sure. Setting it is challenging, especially when you switch to F^2 from M^2. It lets me set the area in M^2 but not F^2. It does come with an attachable lanyard, a screwdriver (for accessing the battery) a charging cable and a manual. They call it a manual, but it is a one page (one side only) sheet of paper that barely covers the main functions. It does not explain the symbols on the screen and only covers the most basic changing of settings. This is one area that could definitely be improved upon.Functionality:The unit functions fine once you get the settings adjusted to what you need. Also, and very important, it comes with a rechargeable battery that needs to be connected. They do state this multiple times on the product listing and in the manual so that is covered well; however, the battery compartment is barely big enough for the battery and the connector once connected. Be prepared to struggle to get the battery cover back on properly. I do not have a second anemometer so I cannot confirm the accuracy of this unit but it does seem to function as expected. It also has a back lit screen which is nice. The head also rotates so you can face the proper direction while still having good visibility of the display. It has wind chill sensors but unfortunately, I do not see any setting or option to see temperature either with or without wind chill. I also do not know what the default temperature value is, meaning does it automatically include the wind chill no matter what? Ideally it would show the actual temperature and then an adjusted temperature for wind chill so you know what the wind chill values are as well.Price:This item is listed (at the time of this review) for $32.99. This seems in line with other similar products so I have no issues with the price.Likes:I like that the screen is backlit.Dislikes:I don’t like how the settings work. It is cumbersome to change settings if needed.Overall:I do not have any problems recommending this particular product, especially if its accuracy is decent. It does work well once it is set up properly and having a backlit display means you don’t have to worry about light conditions when taking measurements. The price seems fine as well so if you have a need for such a device this one seems to get the job done well enough.
