Art Playroom

The Art Playroom is a great book for anyone interested in helping young children build a maker mindset. I have been using The Art Pantry resources since my son was born and set up a small corner of my living room for him when he turned 1. He's 4-years-old now and I love having this beautiful, very visual book to give me ideas for new combinations of materials to set out for him as he gets more interested in science, and to help me remember to keep introducing him to art mediums. I refer to it often! He even flips through it sometimes and gets inspired himself, asking if we can do one of the "invitations to create".I love how this book walks you through steps you can take to set up an art space in your home, tips for different materials to provide as well as the containers that best house them, and even how to make small changes as they get older so that it grows with them. It can all feel overwhelming to try to do it on your own, but this book is the guide that makes it doable.Having this space in our home helped to encourage my son's agency with art materials and he now knows how to use them (and how not to use them on furniture) and uses his tools everyday. Whenever there's something he wants he says, "I have a great idea! Let's make it." And off he goes to his art corner to start figuring out what supplies he needs.Whether you live in a small space or have a dedicated art room, you can set up a space for children to feel ownership and agency over their creative outlet. Every parent and preschool should have this book!

The Art Workbook is a beautiful manual for creating an art workshop in your home . It has everything necessary to setup an Artspace as well as all the materials.Your child will love looking through the book and choosing the art projects that appeals to them . The Art Playroom is a stunningly beautiful book. It offers a comprehensive guide to designing a simple, organized, and inviting workshop filled with fun materials. Megan shares her creative approach to keeping children engaged through open-ended art prompts or "invitations to create". Filled with numerous colorful illustrations and photos, the book will entice children from 2 to 10 and beyond to join the fun and return for more creative inspiration.

I love this book! Not only does it have bright, beautiful photos, but it is full of creative and inspiring ideas for kids. I will definitely be buying another copy for my sister and her children.

The title of this is a little misleading, as only 1 of the 6 chapters is about actually creating an art playroom. I was a little disappointed by that, but the book does give a lot of good tips on how to create your own art space, and the remainder provides many ideas on how to use your art space and introduce your kids to a wide variety of mediums and artistic processes.This review was for "The Art Playroom: Make a home art space for kids; Spark exploration, independence, and joyful learning with invitations to create Paperback – July 11, 2023 "
