REFURBISHED
The Digital Voice Recorder arrived in a box secured with a REFURBISHED label......I did not want a used/refurbished recorder and returned it unopened so cannot comment on quality or performance. My comment is, however, that there wasn't any indication within the description online of the recorder being refurbished; misleading advertising.

Failed after little use but now working again
Bought through another channel and initially pleased with the device. However, after not using it for a while, I attempted to charge the device and it never gets past the Welcome screen. Other people have reported this and the suggested fix (update firmware) didn't work. Productech lost interest when it turned out I hadn't bought through an approved channel (though not clear how I would have recognised one).***UPDATE*** To be fair, even though tech support did lose interest, I have been contacted a couple of times recently to ask about my recorder. As it happens, I have managed to repair the device now. This was done by opening up the case and temporarily disconnecting the battery for maybe 20 seconds (you'll need a soldering iron to do this). After reconnecting the battery, the recorder was working normally again but I updated the device with the firmware recommended by support (even though dates suggested this was an earlier version than the installed one). So far, it's still working fine.Because of the ongoing contact and providing me with a link to the firmware, I've added 2 stars. Please note - opening up your device and going at it with a soldering iron should only be attempted by someone who is confident doing so. No guarantees it will help you and you'll be doing it at your own risk.
