Wohler 9413 Viper L Viper, 65' Long

While not a substitute for a professional chimney sweep regular inspection and cleaning, the Wohler Viper system provides an excellent means of interim sweeping. I combine it with ACS Anti-Creosote squirted fairly frequently (to keep soot brittle) and, also, I occasionally burn an anti-creosote log and use only dry, seasoned wood burned hot. Even so, with 24/7 fires during a long winter season creosote forms, particularly on the chimney cap (where the smoke hits the hot air beyond the insulated pipe). The Wohler Viper will not remove this tarry creosote because it is not brittle and in time must be manually cleaned from the roof. I did order the stiffer wire brush designed to "cut" tarry creosote, but I have not yet used it. I doubt, however, that it will remove the tar/creosote buildup on the chimney cap. The Viper is really easy to use and cleans the chimney in minutes. I recommend it highly.

Works great, simple to use. It is a bit difficult to find the right sized brushes. I just decided to use some different branded brushes and just adapt the threads.

Does a great job and we no longer have to climb on the roof to clean the chimney. This is the same item our professional chimney sweep uses.

This is an excellent product, we already residential and industrial chimney and fireplace restoration company where we clean the chimney flue sections in New York City.

I bought this product and it seems to work well and easily. I needed to clean the flue for my woodstove from the bottom up. This product it provided the requisite combination of flexibility (to get around the angle between the horizontal clean out and the vertical flue) and stiffness (to remove larger chunks of creosote). I can not see up into the flue,even with a mirror to check but it seemed to take off a lot of build up on the first pass up and down and very little on the second which, combined with the lack of resistance on the second pass, tells me that most of the creosote is gone.Brushes are sold separately and Wohler, as best i know, only makes round ones. The prices I saw were moderate. Using an eight inch round brush in a 6 1/2 inch square masonry flue may mean that the corners are not really cleaned out and there may still be a small amount of creosote build up there. My current decidedly amateur thinking is that the circular brush gets close enough to the corners of the flue so that what is left will not be a problem. I may change my mind on that. There are square brushes available from third parties but they require adapters which appear to be overpriced.
