AIMS PowerSCC100AMPPT Solar Charge Controller, 100 Amp 12/24/36/48V

I have been running an aims power inverter 4000w for 4 years. After the warranty had expired by 1 week I had a problem due to my own fault . I called the company and even told them that I caused the problem and the product was one week over the warranty. Aims Power Equipment told me they would cover it anyhow. I have nothing to say except the company builds sound rugged high quality Equipment from my experience. I have yet to receive the controller, but called the company and found out that the connectors are hard connected. No flaky spring connections. I already have a control box for my solar and 80 amp and it already caught on fire because of the flaky spring-loaded connections. I've had enough headaches and decided to spend the extra money and get a real product. Granted some complain about the software blah blah blah. My experience tells me I can connect the product and I am done. No problems with the unit.

This unit was installed to replace to MorningStar 60 MPPTs. Not because the MS were bad just because I wanted to reuse them else where and alter the configuration. This AIMS unit was and is defective. It will charge only up to ~54 volts then ramp down toward zero. It's like the firmware is corrupt or the voltage sensor is uncalibrated. I sent AIMS photos and all specs multiple time. In the back and forth they just kept asking for the same information over and then told me my solar panels were hooked up incorrectly saying I had them all in parallel. This is not the case and at no point did I ever state anything of the sort, the MS units would have never worked perfect for years if that was the case. After they will not respond to me anymore. This was a company I bought 10Ks of products from and had good success and was recommending them, then when the first product had a legitimate issue this is how they treated me. They treated me with nothing disrespect and obfuscation. I pulled the unit and replaced back the MS units. Months later I still have this AIMs that was bad on arrival and no recourse. Since I didn't install it fast enough to catch the problem Amazon would not return it after 30 days.

Nice, quiet, does the job so far. Only quirks are that the + and - terminals are way close together (could lead to a short if not careful with braided cable) , the screen is tiny and very basic, and the manual does not tell ho to set any parameters (date or battery type). You can figure it out with enough button pushes but seriously, this is important.

Unit working very well for the last Month, LCD provides all the visual data you can ask for. Only draw back which earned it a three stars is there is no software monitoring. You have this nice unit with a RS485 port (communication port) with no way to get to the data. Software is under development as per my contact with techsupport. Bummer If I would have known i would have definitely choosen a different Charge controller. see update comment below.

I have several Aims products and all function well. Purchased a third controller from The Inverter Store and after installing it didn't work. Contacted the inverter store and they referred me to the manufacturer. Last time they ever get my business. I've delt with inverters R US many times and they stand behind what they sell and are Very knowledgeable. The inverter store doesn't. Amazon sells Inverters R US products..
