Gotta admit after buying the fx4 filter I thought maybe this addon might be a bit of a money grab,, but I was quite surprised how easy it made cleaning my gravel,, the fact that the filter does the work and no more gob full of tank water when siphoning is a big plus in my opinion,,And the flow rate can be adjusted in case u have a sandy substrate,, my only gripe is the pipes are a little stiff,, not much flexibility in them,, but then u don't want it too kink or bend,, overall it's worth it.

Very quick dispatch & delivery . Which warrants 5 stars on its own merit.I have spent quite some time trying to purchase one of these for an 8 month old fx6 .Having even contacted Hagen directly themselves , only too be informed they were only available with New filters.(grrrrr)Very easy to install & trim to size the clear plastic uplift tube + hose. much longer than the 2ft need to reach the bottom of my 6ft aquarium.What I found very helpful was;I had Coral sand & Coral gravel mixed in large tank .with a bit of fine tuning I was able to not only filter but gravel but also collect the unwanted sand in the bag supplied .which I reguarly emptied into a bucket .Doing two jobs at the same time. (Bonus )

Long awaited tool, underwhelming in use. A faff to set up, the hose between gravel cleaner and collection cup is very stiff so cleaning a tank which has cross pieces is difficult to manoeuvre. Can’t lift out the suction tube as it will draw air into the filter & potentially overflow your tank so the thick, stiff tubing has to be passed under the cross pieces making it awkward to get a good angle on the suction tube. Despite my running an FX4, the actual suction possible is too low to pull anything from the gravel in any great quantity so the cleaning routine takes significantly longer than it does with a manual cleaner. Bought it to replace a python but it looks like I’ll be sticking with that tool. Very expensive mistake.

Great add on when using the FX range of filters. Now I have all tanks with FX filters only need the one vac and so easy to use once you have got the hang of it
