Excellent flavour
**** 30th March 2015. The current listed tea "Birchall Great Rift Loose Leaf Tea" is not the tea I purchased or reviewed. My review was for a 1kg Kenya loose tea which appears to have been removed and replaced with the above tea. I have never tried the above tea! ****Loose tea is becoming harder and harder to get in the supermarkets these days, so it was nice to be able to purchase a large bag of good quality Kenya tea from Amazon. The flavour is delicious, strong without being overpowering and very very refreshing. You need 2 teaspoons per pot (for 2 people)and it doesn't need to brew for long as the strength comes through very quickly. As it's a very fine tea, you might find a few leaves get through the tea strainer. If you like tea for a good price that actually tastes like tea, I'd highly recommend this.

Reefreshes a jaded palete
I am obsessed with finding the perfect brew. Strong, bright, comforting, refreshing and complex. This one is not yet perfection - good strength, bright and refreshing, but not quite the full-mouthed comforting experience I yearn for - I may try blending in some other teas - but it is well on its way - and fantastic at the price

Keep it tea, and keep it Birchall. Great-tasting, fresh-tasting tea. Ignore those moaning about the size of the leaves. Do you eat the leaves? I don't, therefore the size of the leaves isn't relevant - it's the taste that's relevant - and that's great.I came across this tea by chance, and was hooked on it after one cup - Brita filters gave a couple of bags away with their filters, to help demonstrate the benefit of using their filters. After trying that, I bought some prism bags, but I decided that I was now drinking so much tea that I couldn't afford prism bags on an ongoing basis - so for the first time in my life (I'm a 39 year old man!) I tried loose leaf tea. I bought an infuser specifically and I haven't looked back - and I'm not someone that can usually be bothered with faff.

A Robust Breakfast Tea
Like a lot of the cheaper leaf teas this one is a fairly fine (consistency not quality) black tea, and a small amount is nor, ally plenty, when making a one litre pot I find that one of the scoops often sold with ground coffee is sufficient. As mentioned the tea has a fine consistency and if you use a filter tea pot tends to gradually gum up the filter leading to a high degree of foaming when pouring in the boiling water, thus regular cleaning of the tea pot filter is essential.Taste wise this is a strong malty breakfast team great first thing in the morning with milk and as much as I may enjoy some of the more delicate flavours of more expensive teas first thing in the morning this just right. Ultimately the tea is good value for money as long as you know what to expect.

Really good tea
Hi, this is lovely tea, it’s a nice strong brew without the fake taste of tanning that you usually find in teas famously trying to brand themselves as a good strong brew! You get my thinking, the White Rose County of England.

makes a decent cup of tea
We called in a café when on holiday and had a lovely cup of tea and asked what tea they used. They gave us the name and we looked it up when we got home and bought it.It is quite expensive to buy but a bag lasts a long time and works out value for money. It makes a perfect drink, no bitter taste, no dust just a smooth drink of perfect tea. I wouldn't use any other now.

Lovely cuppa
Started buying this product in lockdown and have continued since. We are a big tea drinking family so using a teapot saves time and is economical. Fresh flavour

Beautiful Malty Perfectly Balanced Tea
I have to agree with all the positive reviewers loving this tea. Having discovered Birchalls at Wework, I decided to try loose leaf this time instead of teabags. A level teaspoon makes a perfect cup of tea in a large mug. It is the best loose leaf I have ever tasted, (the leaf sizes are unimportant by the way). It is malty, strong, perfectly balanced and something to look forward to and enjoy.
