Sound+Sleep High Fidelity Sleep Sound Machine with 30 Guaranteed Non-Looping Nature Sounds, Sleep Timer, and Adaptive Sound Technology, Classic Black (Renewed)

I have tried and been disappointed by various sound machines over the last couple of decades and had given up on them. The sounds were unnatural, tinny, odd even when they were recognizable. And loops drive me nuts because I hear when the repeat starts. Someone I trust recommended this one, but decades of experiencing bad and disappointing quality kept me from purchasing it until I saw the reconditioned units available for such a low price, so I bought one, bracing myself for what I thought would be the inevitable disappointment. As it is an older version, and reconditioned (not new) it doesn't even have all the options of the newer versions and I am ASTOUNDED by the sound quality. I have it going almost 24/7. I hope they have a newer model with additional soundscapes because this little machine is wonderful. I love especially its unobtrusive adaptive feature and also the layers of natural sound that are added. It is superb. I'm now looking at purchasing a new top of the line version to get some added sounds that I miss and would love to hear again. This is a high quality item and worth every penny.

This item was great when it worked but in less then a year it would shut off in just about 3 or 4 minutes into its 60 or 120 minute cycle. After 14 months it totaly quit and does not come on at all, as if it was not even pluged in. But IT IS!

I was afraid the sound tone for my preferred rainfall wouldn’t be a low enough tone,, more towards the bass end, but the tone was fine..most of the sounds have are similar in that lower end. Come to think of it, a bass/ treble variable control would be an excellent feature if they had it, far more useful than the 3 levels of “soundscape” that they have in this unit…I thought that would add fullness and depth to the basic sounds, instead it just adds details like birds tweeting or foghorns, kinda gimmicky but may work for some. I haven’t been helped by any sound that has to much variation in it like waves or thunder, prefer steady low rain.Only other comment is the unit is lightweight so it slides easily, pushing the buttons moves it around, you have to kind of hold it down to push the buttons, awkward with one hand. Why not grippy feet on it?Had it a few months, so far so good. I’m looking forward to connecting a good quality small speaker to it, that one feature may prove to be its best.

I bought two of these because I figured for the price, it was worth seeing if the renewed machines might work just fine for me. They did, for about two and a half months, and now both of them have problems (and I'm outside the return window, frustratingly). One has the crackly sound that another reviewer mentioned (and I might try calling customer service to fix it since it sounds like they're responsive), the other has started cutting off at random times (and no, I don't have the timer on, I've checked). The sound quality is amazing, just disappointed that the "renewed" machines are still broken. Highly recommend these new, but not renewed.

Sound fidelity is good, far better than any smaller machine I've tried, but the unit started making intermittent crackling noises about four month's after I got it. Adaptive Sound's customer service diagnosed the problem as a bad SD card and sent me, not a replacement SD card, but an entire brand new machine, which is so far working well. Hopefully this one will endure.

It was easy to use. Has a lot of sounds to choose from. Also has timer.The ambient function works amazing for our babies and keep them sleeping well. It prevents the baby startle from sudden noise.It is a bit heavy so travel with it might not be a great idea. Our 1st one broke after we traveled with it and we have no idea why. We padded it in our luggage and all.

the speaker blew out (no idea how, i always have this on the lowest volume) so now it makes the least relaxing noise ever... unfortunately the return window is closed.wouldn't recommend, cheap and broke for no reason with the gentlest, most minimal use.

I dislike the fact that there was no manual or instructions on how to operate the different features. I liked that there were options to choose from and a variety of sounds to choose from.
