I purchased the first music theory book in this series while trying to find a book that was well organized and easy to follow. After just a day of reading it was clear that these books are on a whole new level. This workbook is not required for the corresponding theory book to make sense but it is completely worth it! I love that each exercise directly relates to a new concept that you learn in the theory book. It’s one thing to just read about a music theory concept but being able to put it into practice in an extremely organized and well written format is the icing on the cake. Whether you’re wanting to use these books to help you while you’re learning to play an instrument, wanting to write your own music, or just want to be able to listen to a piece of music and have a better understanding of it these books are perfect. One goal I have is to teach music lessons in the future and these books and workbooks will definitely be a part of the foundations that I start with.

This book is so clearly laid out and with simple exercises that evolve into more complicated exercises but done in a way that is so easy to follow. It covers everything you need to know about how to read and write music and is easy to follow. The theory is explained in an easy to understand way and builds on throughout the book, with simple diagrams showing how to 'read' and play the music, resulting in a set of exercises at the end, to test your understanding. This book is suitable for both children and adults.

The content of this music theory workbook is very thorough and will keep you busy. However, the pictures are a little misleading in my opinion. This workbook DOES NOT COME WITH THE TEXTBOOK. The textbook is sold separately. The textbook is available for free to read on kindle unlimited if you have a subscription. The only reason I bought this pricey workbook is because I’m going through the textbook on kindle unlimited and I wanted to practice on a physical piece of paper.
