Swann CCTV replacement.
Bought to replace a failed Toshiba1Tb HDD in a Home Swann CCTV unit. Better to try and fix it rather than send it to landfill.Fitting was simple, 4 screws and the case was off, 4 more screws and the old HDD was free. Unplug 2 connectors from the drive and plug in the new unit.Put everything back together and reconnect to the CCTV system. After boot up just reformat the new drive and it's away. This new WD drive is much quieter and doesn't seem to run as hot as the old one. This a simple procedure requiring nothing more than a screwdriver. As close to plug'n'play as you can get. And I've now got 2Tb compared with the 1Tb of the failed unit.Highly recommended.

Good good
Came brand new and officially licensed genuine product fully boxed and can't ask for more than that as these drives last a lifetime.

Used for my CCTV DVR.
Bought it as a direct replacement for a failed hard drive, works perfectly.

Great for surveillance recording
Used in our surveillance system, a ubiquiti NVR set up.This replaced an old and failing 1Tb drive and seems to have done the job well.We dont need anything bigger (4x 1Tb) as we are not doing FBI stuff, just keeping an eye on people knicking things from the shed!

Excellent HDD
We use a lot of hard drives for NVR's. Amazon always the best place to buy and this hard drive was no exception. Great price and WD are always reliable.

One of the best NVR drives you can buy
These this drive is a very good quality and ideal for video surveillance or network video recorder systems. They are quiet, reliable and have low energy consumption.

Beware - Chinese grey import
I bought this to replace a 3 year old WD Purple HDD in my Ubiquiti CCTV system. When it arrived I noticed that on the label it said "For sale in China only. No warranty support outside of China". When I queried this with Amazon the support staff said don't worry we guarantee it for 2 years, but, as I pointed out, the Pro version is supposed to have a 5 yr manufacturer's warranty. Warranty period proved irrelevant however as the HDD refused to load or format in multiple machines. Initiated the return process which is easy enough but Amazon received the faulty disk over a week ago and yet no refund received, with the status still showing as "Your refund will be processed when we receive your item.". Poor product and unusually poor service from Amazon

(8TB Pro Version) Good drive that handles my 6x 4k streams well but runs VERY HOT!
Beware, this drive runs HOT. Very hot in fact!I have this in a custom-built Thermaltake Core V1 Mini-ITX Cube Case. It has a huge 200mm front fan and 2x 80mm exhaust fans, yet this drive still trots along at over 50c (28c ambient). I have had to install (cram in) another 140mm fan that blows directly onto the disk just to keep it under 45c.I even tried just leaving the disk in the open air, and still, we headed over 50c.Oddly I have another slightly older 6TB purple that runs 5-6c cooler without the additional fan blowing. As for noise, it's not the quietest, but I can't hear it over the additional fans required to keep it cool anyway. All in all, not bad but will only buy helium drives from now on. These larger, air-filled drives are just too hot for their own good, especially if you have 2 or more stacked together such as in a server or compact case.
