A Good Colorant for Cooking, But Lacks the Aromatic Flavor
I recently purchased the "Superior Saffron Threads," which claims to be 100% pure and unadulterated saffron. I primarily use saffron in Mediterranean dishes, and after trying this product a couple of times, I found that it gives a nice red color to food, which is great as a natural colorant. However, I'm not entirely convinced about the aromatic flavor, which is typically a key aspect of high-quality saffron.Since saffron can be easily adulterated or mixed with other substances, it's crucial to understand how to distinguish pure saffron from an impure or blended version. This product seemed genuine based on its appearance, but the aromatic flavor was somewhat underwhelming, leading me to question its purity.Additionally, after weighing the package, I found that it contained 13.49 grams instead of the 14 grams stated on the label. Although the difference is minor, it does raise concerns about accuracy and product integrity. The price of this product was originally $32.49, which seemed reasonable, but it has since increased to $64.99, nearly doubling. This dramatic price hike makes it much less of a bargain. Overall, the product is acceptable if you're mainly using saffron for its coloring properties. However, if you're seeking the rich aroma and flavor typical of saffron, you might want to look into other options or ensure you're purchasing from a trusted source to avoid potential adulteration.
