I love popcorn, but the typical microwave popcorn gets expensive. I tried this Hotpop, and I have learned to prefer it. It took me several tries to determine the best way to use it, but now that I have, I love the way it tastes and the ease of preparation. For the smaller amount, I fill to the indicated line with popcorn, and then I add a 1/4 teaspoon of yellow popcorn salt and 1/2 teaspoon of cooking oil. I then mix it to make sure every kernel has some oil and salt on it, and then put it in the microwave for 2 minutes 20 seconds. Presto, I have perfect popcorn. For the larger amount, I fill to the second line on the bowl and double the amount of salt and oil. The bowl is easy to clean afterwards, and then neatly collapses so it doesn't take up a lot of room. I love it.

Very practical and convenient. Does the job and pops the corn. I would only watch out for the hot handles when the popcorn is ready. Another negative is that lots of corn kernels often don't pop and get wasted.

I wondered when I bought this whether it was too good to be true. The answer is, yes. I put popcorn only into the container, followed the directions exactly, and listened for the popping to stop. After a minute (while there was still popping happening) a dreadful smell came out of the microwave. I immediately opened to door to find the popcorn was partially burnt and globs of it were stuck together. The silicone container had a big scorch mark down the side. Total failure.
